I'm nearing the home streach on my tear drop trailer project.

Still to do list.

Undercoat Trailier
Paint the inside
Install weather stripping
More polishing
Install drip rails over doors
Get registered with DMV (Maybe this thursday or Friday - God help me)
Install cooler rack on front
Fix door struts.

Here are some pics.

Have not decided if I'm going to tow it to DMV with the Charger or the PT.

Sweet Steve. Are you gonna pull it behind the Charger?

I built it to pull behind the Charger for my cross country in 2011 to the SEMA Club car show for the 45th Birthday of the Dodge Charger.

Trailer is not entirely done yet but enought to go down to DMV and get it registered.

Cost $38 for a (get this) 5 Year "permanate" trailier license plate.

ok ok here are the pics

I got in and out of DMV in less than 2 hours without an appointment which is unheard of.

I was thinking the rear lights on the trailer were from a Eldorado or Toronado?

Are you gonna buy two more Hopster rims for the trailer for a match set?

ChgrSteve67

The rear lights are a set of these.

not going to buy rims to match Charger. As cool as that may look I plan on keeping the trailier somewhat generic so I can put it behind my PT or sell it someday.

My bad Steve. I used these on a trailer once and came to mind  :P

No Problem. I should have though about hitting U Pull it and seeing if I could find a set of cool car lights.

I have some 40 Ford tail lights but they did not fit in the fendors.

They would have looked really cool.

Sorry I'm not very bright, is the teardrop trailer for stowing gear or is it for sleeping too?

I seem to recall seeing one of these trailers, an original, that had a propane stove & sink in back and a bed up front.

ChgrSteve67

They are generally made as a small camp trailier not a utility trailier.
I did not want to pull a square box around so I made a tear drop looking utility trailier for the canopy, chairs, ice chest, spare tires, tools, luggage, BBQ and so on.
Normally tears have at least one window and a small kitchen in the back.

There is a car show in IL put on by the Sema club in 2011 celebrating the 45th birthday of the Dodge Charger.
I play on driving my Charger cross country and built this trailier to haul mine and the wifes stuff and supplies.
I went to the 40th in 2006 but could not take the Charger due to where it was in its rebuild progress.

I still have a little more work to do before the trip, but in 2011 I will be good to go.
I don't know what route I'm taking yet, it will depend on who else is going and where they live.

BTW: My wife don't do tents, trailiers or motor homes.

Hey Steve, check out the Ironstone Concours d'Elegance.

http://www.ironstonefoundation.org/index2.php

It's held in September each year in Murphys, just up the road from you. Great winery grounds (wine just ok, but the grounds are a mega million dollar facility and setting). I attended this year, it was a fantastic event.

They have a category for trailers and campers and it is way cool what the dozen or more entries showed off. Your set up would certainly fit in and both Charger and trailer need to be seen and appreciated.

I'll send a PM with my number if you want more details.

stop off in kansas/missouri and say hi on the way
GO SELL CRAZY SOMEWHERE ELSE WE ARE ALL STOCKED UP HERE

ChgrSteve67

Its a ways off.
We should definitely hook up next year and go.

At the moment I'm just trying to get this year over with.
Bring on the rain.

There is a car show tomorrow in Citrus Heights
http://capitolcitycruisers.org/
I wanted to attend but the wife wants a bunch of office furniture moved across town.

The next one I'm looking at attending (depending on weather) is Dec 5 Crusin for Kids  Christmas Toy Drive  @ Les Schwab Tire on Madison in Orangevale.

I am going to go to the good guys car show in Pleasanton but just to walk around and check things out for the day.

If I'm in the area and have time we sure will.
I want to also hit a few amusment parks while we are back there.

ChgrSteve67

Today I took my old Charger car cover and made a cover for my teardrop trailier.

For your viewing pleasure here is my Firm Feel sway bar installation I figured I would do before the big game starts.

Here are the package contents.

Close up of the front sway bar mounts

Pictures of the stock bar for reference.

A few of the bolts and nuts put up a fight comming off but I'm glad nothing had to be cut off.

Shots of the bracket mount locations after the bar is removed.

Let the installation begin.

The front mounts bolted up in the same location as the stock but slightly larger holes had to be drilled along with an additional hole.

Comparison between the stock and Firm Feel Bar.

Everything in place and just needs to be locked down.

All done and even the lower rad support from AND installed.

Total installation time was about and hour and a half.
I'm very pleased with the setup and installation.

Took her out for a bit of a spin and she feels really nice.
Can't wait to take a trip up in the hills to see how she feels.
