Hi all,

I was searching around for a picture where someone was restoring their charger dash out of the car and had a wood frame built for it so that the dash coupld be completely assembled (frame, custer, wiring, etc) on the workbench.  Can anyone supply the image or link?  I thought I had it but cant find it. ???

thanks

MS, I believe you are thinking of Bill. He is on the '70 site. He's got some really cool creations that he makes to mount parts. His name is TX9Charger.

For what it's worth, here's a half-assed rig that I set up last weekend on my engine stand.  I just painted the dash and set up this "frame" with a 2x4 and a piece of scrap wood I found sitting around the garage.  I mounted it to my engine stand, which made it easy to spin the frame around and get at all the angles for painting.  I'll probably assemble most of the frame on this same stand before mounting it in the car.  Good luck with it.

Damn Recharger, that has to be one of the most ingenious uses of an engine stand I've ever seen! O0

You mean aside from using one to hold up an engine??? ;)

Recharger,

Thanks guys!  I'm really happy with the way it turned out.  (Most of the credit goes to my dad though, who sanded it and did all the prep work)  I sprayed that dash with an HVLP gun, it's suede finish Bahama blue that I got through Mopaints.  Pretty pricey, but I'm happy with the way it turned out.  I just thinned it 1:1 with some lacquer thinner and it layed down really well.  (No need to worry about orange peel with the suede finish paint)   :icon_smile_wink:

It's tape. You can see it in the first picture.

TylerCharger69

Ahhhh....okay....i see the yellow tape

Recharger

Yeah, TO beat me to it.  I taped it off (and you weren't the first to ask if I'd screwed it up)  Here' s the pic with the proof.  The vin tag is safe and sound.

Very nice work I might add!!!!

Maybe Dodge Don can post a picture of his set up.  He just made it a few weeks back with some leftover lumber from around the house.  Looks good too!

Car's got a lot of pickup. It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
