no luck removing dowel pins!

Hey guys,

I'm going to have to resort to welding a nut on the dowel pins to get them out..my question is..can i hurt the engine block by putting to much heat on it? i'm only going to tack weld the nuts on..thanks!

cast iron can take a lot of heat , you should be fine
