Does anyone have any diagrams or links to any diagrams for fitting a Hurst Shifter? 1968 Charger, my 4 speed transmission is like a side loader if that's the correct phrase and it just refuses to go in to first and sometimes second so i'm going to try that, any help appreciated, i'm new to Charger's and still learning about mechanical issues so apologies if my knowledge isn't that great at the moment

Just 6T9 CHGR

The '68 shifter was made by Inland and wasnt the most user friendly.

You can update to a Hurst by talking to these guys....

Mopar scrapped the Inland shifter in midyear '68 and went back to the Hurst.

Since 1st and 2nd are in a straight line it's unlikely that shifter adjustment is the problem, the problem is more likely the clutch is not fully releasing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

2nd isn't actually that easy to get in to either so we'll have a good look and see what the problem is, it makes that horrible screaching noise when trying to get in the gear, this isn't the original transmission on the car, i'll let you know if I have any more questions, cheers guys

Anyone know of a website with the instructions on or a diagram for fitting the Hurst Shifter to my gearbox?

Hurst has a website that has tech help. Try here;

Basically, you bolt it on and adjust the shift lever length with a pin going through the shifter to keep it stable and away you go.
