Hey gang..

Looking to finish off my garage in the near future. I'm looking to insulate and sheetrock my garage for both finishing and cooling purposes..... Are there any good and cheaper alternatives to the ole'-fashion fiberglass insulation rolls? I'll be sheetrocking both the ceiling and walls of the garage. I'll also be decking the attic area for storage........

My brother in law had a company come in and spray foam the roof in the 100 yr old hose he was remodeling......it was more money but it made a huge difference with heating this past winter....it also did not require any vapour barrier......they just sprayed it on the inside of the roof and it was done.

I haven't priced it ,but i know people are getting their houses and garages sprayed with foam.seals up the structure from drafts.A buddy built his house and had it done and is extremely pleased with the performance.plus he didn't have to mess with the bats.saved ton of time.I believe the r-value is higher also

I saw how they did that. It takes only minutes, but I think it costs more than you original fiberglass rolls

I always thought of using those corning fiberglass insulation panels that come as a wall section, if I had a garage that I would need to insulate. Has anyone tried those?

you proably already know this but make sure you vent your roof after insulating your garage like that or the space between your celling and roof will get damp and rot your roof out, a vent can be put at the end of the gable to...... I was gonna do this to but ran out of money this year needing new washer and dry and gutters for my house........I wanna put a good insulated garage door too :yesnod:

Thanks ck1...

The garage is already built and it has a ridge vent...... The garage was an orinigal 2-car garage that was extended into a 4-car garage, of course, not finished inside as far as drywall and insulation........
