I've never liked the '69-up Camaro. If I were to buy one it would be a '67 or '68, and I wouldn't spend $800k+ on any car(even if I had it).

Even if it is rare, I still don't see what is so special about it. Looks like a plain old camaro. Then again, I was never impressed with the looks of the camaros

I've owned a few 69's in the past, including a Z/28. Its one of the best cars to come out of GM. My opinion. As far as the Money/Rarity of the car, Isn't there another thread on here somewhere where a guy wants $5 Million dollars for a Hemi Cuda Convertable??

The ZL-1 Camaro was a race ready car, just like the light weight AFX Cars of the early 60's ie; Ford Thunderbolts, Coronet 440's, 62'Pontiac Bonneville's etc......
The car, just like the Hemi Cuda, is a part of the history of the Muscle Car Era, and we should at least respect it.

Ok I've seen a couple ZL1 camaros for sale and I must say... I've never yet seen one go over $200,000! What makes this one special I'll never know. I mean, the bloody thing only has a 302....

What makes any camero speical???  I mean they are nice the older ones more so.  But to me they are in the same ball park as a mustang.  Everyone has got it and no offense but the mustang was designed for women in mind.   ;)

No. It has an all Aluminum 427ci Engine. It is a race ready car that, out of the box [dealer preped] Will give ANY car a run for their money.

BTW,   Z/28's have the 302ci engine.

:iagree: Exactly!
The ZL1 is the ultimate Camaro, built for one reason only...to keep up with lightweight Mopar's at the strip. :icon_smile_big:

Oh & they only made 69 of them too.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Stormhammer

427s... Chevy Hemi's hehe

yea - just because of their low numbers and their reputation, as well as the condition that its in, I think it does deserve its price  :yesnod:

in the end its only worth what someone will pay for - but admit - its tsill nice as hell

As far as making any Camaro special, What makes any car special? It's a personal thing more than anything else, don't you think??

As far as the second comment concerning the Mustang, Well I'll just let that one hang there. Maybe someday you'll realize how silly a comment it is :rotz:

I don't know about the sales objectives of the Mustang, but i know Carroll Shelby called the original Mustang a Secretary's car.

that Camaro is like a the Race Ready A bodys with the 426 Hemis, and i'd buy one of the Barracudas for Darts with a Hemi before that Camaro and i'd never pay that much for a car.

No, there were 69 of them built.  Just slicks would put them in the 10s.  50 of them were ordered for Gibb and 19 for general population.

I just so may have happen to see the Vet ZL-1 engine in St Louis around 1886. I was at AMT Machine shop and there on a stand was a Beer Can Rat that had been hurt real bad. Pitched a rod out the side but was repaired, Chad told me the owner spent something like $4000.00 to have the blocked fixed and they where doing the bulid. I was shocked and ask why? Said it was a ZL-1 427, that is why. Wonder if it might have been the Vet engine. I would swear he said it was from a vet but that was a long time ago and I really did not care.
