I have a brand new 833 od, with a strong 360 in a 68 charger. Shifting gears is nothing like my 05 mitia. The power shift from 1-2-3 isn't that choppy just diffrent. But Down shifting sucks!!!! Trying to go to second around 25 and all it dose is grind. I almost have to be at a complet stop to go into 1st. My mitia doesn't like to shift in first eather but it has 6 gears so 1st is real low. On a my 833 od, 3rd gear is 1:1 so I should be able to go into first easier rite? How dose your charger shift? I don't see how I could use this trans in a road rally race.

WHat oil are you using in it ? GL5 are too slippery ffor the syncros to work properly
also the gear spacing is wider than a 6 speed so the syncros will have to work harder then the miata

833 is 40 year old technology...   It's not anything like a modern trans.  An 833 OD is NOT a road racing trans either.

maybe thats it, what type and weight of trans fluid Im I suposed to use?

80-90w oil is recommended , but newer synthetic like Redline & Mopar Manual trans lube will work as they are designed to allow the syncros to work properly
the 80-90 crude based oil is the cheapest to try to see if it helps
