Just bought an '06 Charger. It's a 6-banger, which is good since its gonna be my daily and it gets pretty good gas mileage.  ;D

Interestingly, I bought it at the same Dodge dealership where my '74 was originally sold. I was talking to the dealership's owner and he said that if I give him the VIN, he can try to look up any history they might have of the car (who they sold it too, service, etc). Also, once I get it running, if I let them borrow it for a day as a display car, they'll fill it up with gas. ;D

Pics coming soon.

Congrats on the new ride!

I am sure you'll be pleased with the 6 cylinder's performance.   :yesnod:

I am also a fan of this car but I myself would opt for the V-8, only because my company pays for my fuel.

As far as this:

QuoteI was talking to the dealership's owner and he said that if I give him the VIN, he can try to look up any history they might have of the car (who they sold it too, service, etc).

I would have told them to dig that up prior to signing the deal.   :yesnod:

Thanks guys.

I got a 6 banger for two reasons - the main one being cost. In my current situation, I couldn't afford a to buy a $25-30K car, which is what R/T's are going for. I got this one for just under $20K and that was pushing my limit as it was. The other reason was economy - both in gas and insurance. Besides, I already have a big, gas guzzling, unreliable, inpractical Charger. ;D

As for the color,  many of you know that I think black is beautiful, but I also think that white is right. So I got it in white - not my main preference, but I couldnt pass on the deal, and I also liked the body color matching crosshairs grill.  I've been looking online on cardomain and the like and I've seen some really sweet white chargers, so it has potential with a nice window tint (which I'm getting done at the dealership today) and some dubs (im still looking into that).

Anyway...since my 74 is black and evil and the 06 is white and classy, I might end up calling them Yin and Yang.

Well I think you live where it does not snow so yeah white's a cool color-its the first to show any rust but no salt no rust.

Hope you enjoy it and the best of luck to you. Now all you need are a few subwoofers.

Actually they were pretty cool at the dealership and they let me take the system out of the Monte Carlo. The guy told me that it really didn't add anything to the trade-in value, and I wasn't about to leave a set of $500 Alpine speakers and my subs/amp in there. The salesman even helped me unhook everything up. Since the car has to have something before its resold or goes to auction, I just went to WalMart and bought a pair of front speakers for about $20.

I'm probably gonna get the subs hooked up, and the Alpines i'm either gonna let the princess have them for her truck, or store them away and maybe put them in the '74, if I ever get to the point where I want to install a stereo in it.

Once you get your old ride running great then get a loud ass stereo for it. I love mine its so strong I don't even hear the rumble strips on the freeway shoulders or car horns. But yeah wait until its running fine cause if the motor stalls you might not know for a few seconds and mine shakes the car so it feels like the engine is missfiring at a stop sometimes. Its worth getting , makes the drive even more enjoyable. Love listening to Ozzy on the road, sounds better with a full system.

I would not do a thing to your new ride expect a better stereo for it, its only a 6 cyc. , just drive it and sell it later on. Remember the challenger is coming.

I wish...sort of, but without the hood, the wheels, and the r/t badges. Probably the only thing I'll do to it (if anything) will be the wheels. My pimp side wants me to go with dub-deuces, but I've also seen sets of R/T wheels on ebay for $600-700, so who knows. Then again, I reckon with the money I'd be spending on the 22"s I could get the R/T wheels, the hood, and still have money left over. Other than that, I'm gonna leave it alone. Like Dodge freak said, this is (hopefully) my "only 'til the challenger has been out for a year or two and I can afford it" car.

I am rethinking the stero thing, though. compared to my old car, the stock system sounds like junk.

Me neither, trust me. But the Monte Carlo was driving me insane with all the little shit that was wrong with it. Not too mention that it went through a quart of oil about once a month and got horrible gas mileage.

I didn't want to buy another beater that would break down on me every few weeks. The payments are a lot more than what I was paying before, but it's a practically brand new car. Gotta be honest though, I was a little nervous about the deal, but then I put things in perspective - when I bought the Monte 3 years ago (which back then was already 3 years old), I was making a lot less money and my insurance was a lot more expensive. I managed to do just fine back then. When I crunched the numbers, I'm more or less in the same situation I was back then - with the added plus that I'm not living at home anymore.

Okay Mojo.  Its now time to adapt the car to your personality and heritage.

1.  Add a couple of "chrome lady" stickers to the back window

2.  Put the word "Tamaulipas" on the back window in 6 inch high gothic letters.

3.  Take a couple of rain gutters from Home Depot and attach them to your rocker panels with wood screws so they look like skirts (I SWEAR TO GOD I've seen this in Charlotte).

4.  Buy a hood scoop at pep boys and rivet it to your hood with pop rivets.  Then slap some bondo on the flange (don't bother sanding it).

5.  Get some "'tezzas" on that damned thing (even though they've completely gone out of style otherwize)

6.  And don't forget the spinner hubcaps.

Aren't they cheaper at Lowe's though?

Should I leave it primered too?

And some cool wind deflectors...one in front of the hood, and two on my doors.

I'm also getting those tire stem caps that flash when you're driving.

I was thinking about putting a "Chivas" sticker on my back window too, but that might be a little tacky.
