Hey looks at here http://www.smpcorp.com/home.asp

something I never thought I would find... in fact I never thought on search it, is this A/C blower lever switch that ALLWAYS OVERHEATS on 3rd gens ( 73/74 ):

I still haven't explored completelly but this REALLY suprised me. was just casuality searching another stuff.

bull

Good find. I hope it turns out to be a good source but I ain't holding my breath. :-\

Mr_fixit

It's close, but it's not chromed and the wires don't come off the back at an angle , like they should. It might work?

Nacho-RT74

who knows.... maybe they are BETTER... :P

the problem with this switch is that internal points are SO SMALL than is not enough to drive the power to blower

on low speed, power goes directly to resistor spliced from that switch plug itself, so using low speed never will get melt or overheat on that switch.

The one pictured with the black handle is their part number HS-200, use their search feature and check out their HS-203 which is chromed. Also, note the variety of years/models they fit.

All such switches that I've seen don't have angled terminals.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Nacho-RT74

original ones are angled, But I think straight terminals will fit without problem

HS203 is just to Heater cars, not A/C cars

However, searching the same switch to DART the one they offer it looks more correct to me... HS202

Actually, if the pictures on the website are true representations, HS-200, HS-202 and HS-203 all have the same number of terminals, the same layout and the same terminal numbering.

Since the fan switch only controls the fan speed there should be no difference from A/C to heater alone.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Nacho-RT74

yes there is difference... heater cars are 4 prongs since lever switch is also the ON-OFF switch and arrives the 12 volts input wire... then is routed to the resistor to the three speeds

A/C cars are 3 prongs switch since ON-OFF function is on selector switch, and of course is where arrives the 12 volts input wire. Then output from selector enters on lever switch AND SPLICED from same terminal to the lower speed resistor section. In that way, when you route the selector to the next step speed, load allways will be mostly drove by the smaller resistance section even higher resistance ( lower speed ) is getting power ( Ohms law ). In fact you can unplug the lever switch and blower will keep working on lower speed, because same reason, input to lever switch is spliced from plug TERMINAL ITSELF directly to higher resistance section without need to be routed by switch.

By the way... sorry, HS202 AND HS200 are also 4 prongs, so doesn't work to A/C cars.  :'(

oh, well, was then just a pic ilussion
