regular bulge hood to air grabber

Hi All.  This is my first post on this board.  I have been looking at some of the new repop pieces to change a regular 72-74 Charger bulge hood to an air grabber.  I am wondering if anyone has done one yet?  It looks like an easy way to get an air grabber for a reasonable price.  If you have done one or are planning this project, please sound off with your experiences.  Thanks

Wilsons is a good source for air grabber components, but I will tell you the hood is just the tip of the ice burg,  The actuator is $500 the braket that opens the doors is $350, The spring $30 pins $30, air box $600 vaccume hose kit $100. Those are the parts I have gathered to date and still need switch $100-$200, air cleaner $250-400.  The hood was already on the car I bought with the air grabber door, but I have spent $1,600 and still need about $600 dollars worth of parts to have a functional air grabber, so I will have about $2000 into my air grabber set up and that does not count the hood.  and I believe that is the part they are talking about reproducing.  I think the Air grabber is pretty cool. but to go from a plain bulge to a air grabber will cost about $4000.

The last orignal switch and solenoid  I saw on ebay went for over $650. You can get the flapper for $145, actuator for $49, hood opening for $245, the door for $195 and the air cleaner lid for $89 from P.G.Classics on ebay. Other parts like vacuum canister for $75 also on ebay I think wilson is the only place to get the pins and spring. The under hood air box for $150 from stinger. The other parts I can think of are the air cleaner base about $200 and the vacuum actuator around $50

I have $1189 Canadian and I still need the air box ($150), Pins ($30) spring ($30) Hood opening( $245), and the door($195) to complete my set up.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.  Yes, mridolfo that is the stuff I was looking at.  Do you by any chance have a contact for Wilson?  I hear their name mentioned but can't find them on the web.  As for the price, I have seen real complete hoods go for $2K to $2500 when you can find them.  Then I have to get it shipped across an international border.  So these prices and the labour are still not that bad a deal.  BTW, if you keep your eyes open, you can sometimes find the canisters on C bodies and other cars where they were used as concealed headlight boosters.  I bought 2 hidden headlight actuator pots off a 69 Charger for $35.  These are supposed to be the same ones as used to open the air grabber doors.
