Yup. I have seen several of them in junkyards over the years.

Think of a cheapened Cordoba with two tone paint.  :icon_smile_wink:

I swear to god, these type of posts make me feel old! (and I'm only 40)

YES, there was Daytona's in 75 and 76 as I remember. They were two tone blue, and some red ones ...Remember, I was 10 when they were new  ;)

I also grew up in the Detroit area, and my Dad worked in Chrysler Engineering. I was "privy" to a lot of stuff back in the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also... I don't think the car in the picture is a Daytona, it appears to have a body side moulding, which Daytona's did not have.

Anybody remember "Midnight Charger's"

Or "Magnum Force"

Or can tell the difference between a real Magnum GT and a 79 GT "spring special"????????

Ghoste

I wasn't much older than you but my first part time job was washing cars at a local Dodge dealer.  I crawled over and through a fair number of those things in 1976.

I remember a two-tone blue one too in my home town when I was about 12.

I though that Charger was on 76 and 77 Daytona "optioned", not on 75, but I'm not really sure, I just know about I have seen on the web.

EDITING: web ad it says 76, and then seller says 75 ???

They also came in two tone silver/dark gray metalic. My buddy Jeff had won in high school w/a 400. He never understood why his charger couldn't do 130 + mph like my '70 R/T would!

yeap, as I thought, 75 just Charger SE ( Chrysler Cordoba ) and then 76, the cheaper Charger that wasn't more than the same body with a 76 Coronet front clip... after that the same SE and the Daytona optioned, also available on 77. On 77 Coronet wasn't anymore assemblied as Coronet and Monaco was resized on to B body, using the Coronet body with 4 square lights and yellow, white and red tail light lenses. Then on 78 came out the Magnum.

Nothing but big cars during the first gas crisis and a hugely bloated top heavy and largely ineffective managment system had a little to do with it too.  Actually, the Cordoba and it's spinoffs were one of the car lines that were selling reasonably well for Chrysler at the time.

billfury

They did have a nice comfy ride tho.

Shakey

And......................

On the way to work this morning I saw a Neon painted in the GoMango colour with a nasty looking spoiler and the Daytona stripe and script on the sides.   :shruggy:

I liked the magnum front ended "daytona" better than the round headlight cordoba body..I had a couple 78 magnums back in the day an they were really nice drivin cars. the styling was a bit ugly but look at the other cars of the day and it isnt so bad.
