ive had charging problems since i got the car, i tried fixing it but gave up and took it to a local guy who only works on old cars. hes fixed it twice, both times changing a wire and the regulator. last time he fixed it at night and the next morning it wasnt charging again so he put in another new regulator and it has been charging great ever since. he pretty much told me if it stops charging again take it somewhere else lol. well i just started my car and the needle was to the left,  so i got out of my car and disconnected the battery and almost cried when the engine stopped. so basically i just keep going through regulators, what should be my next step in trying to fix this problem that never seems to go away. i also replaced the alternator a year ago and it is charging great.

Maybe its the ground on the regulator or a bad wire-think there is 2 you only had 1 changed. I got a Mopar one that is new but looks like the old ones and it had so much paint on it the was no ground and it did not charge. Thinking its brand new from Summitt I scrap the paint off on the bolt holes and even ran a ground wire from the grounding strap on the firewall to one bolt hole on the regulator. That did it , been fine for over a year now.  its either that or a bad wire. Theres a big wire that goes from the alt. to the battery make sure that looks good to.

If you can't get it solve take it to a shop-even Sears should be able to do it-its so easy compared to some new cars now.

how many bad wires could cause this to happen over and over again? are we talking 30 wires i need to go through, or are there just a few i need to check. if its only a few wires ill just replace them all to be safe. if its a giant mess of wires im gonna cry lol i hate wiring more than anything in the world....one day i hope cars can magically run off one wire  :yesnod:

check the wire that goes to your amp meter. it goes throught  one of the three plug ins on the firewall. they had a problem whith these.what i have done is take out the bad terminal, male and female, on that wire, and drill straight through the plug. eliminate the bad connection by running a wire straight throughthe plug in. splice the wire on the inside of the car. done right, you can't tell you've modified it.

I had the same problem, went through about three regulators in a few months.  After being jumped and towed more than a few times I took it to an electrician.  Turned out to be the wires going to the amp meter had shorted out and were draining the battery over time as rt green noted already.

:iagree: Those bulkhead connecters can cause a lot of grief. Also make sure that the connections on the ammeter are tight.
