I vote  YOU this time.  :icon_smile_big:

A Charger owner told me $120 each.  Don't have time to call them this AM, I'm out the door!!!!!!!!

I called SMS about this.  Person I talked to didn't seem to know much about the process or costs.  But he checked with someone else and I found out that it's $750 for the set of 4.  Said it would probably be $400 for just the front two door pads.  When I asked if they reuse our cores, he didn't know.  Said the "guys across the street that do them" knew the process.  Said they didn't have a phone.  When I asked about dashes, he said to call Dash Specialists.  I called them.  Found out that more than likely they are the ones that are doing the door pads for SMS.  So they are the "guys across the street".  He said they have been doing this stuff for 25 years.  Said they match the grain pattern and reuse our core.  Dashes are $325----yes, they do them too.  Address for Dash Specialists is 1910 Redbud Lane, Medford, Oregon, 97504.  Person there is Dean Taylor.  Telephone is 541-776-0040.  No website.  And he told me the same prices for the door pads as I got from SMS----exactly.  So thats why I figure they are doing SMS's work.  Said they can match Black all day.  You will have to ask them about colors as I didn't think to do it.  Said turnaround is about a month.  I told Dean he better get ready for a bunch of orders.  He said thanks and bring it on.

Awesome!  Thanks for checking out the lead, I've been busy as hell all day.

THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN JUST DASHES WHO RE-SPRAYS ON SOME VINYL DYE THAT WILL FADE THE GRAIN!  If they come out right I'd have NO PROBLEM spending the money for a good product!!!

runningman

maybe another group buy? we should get the same pricing as they are giving sms

if I can get some idea as to many sets of door pads/dash pads we are looking to get done I don't mind contacting them to see what they can do for us.  matt

Anybody can say they do great work , have the owner of shop post a pic on here , until then the jury is out !

Charger Aficionado

D-lo, I seriously agree w/ you.  I wish I had a car worthy of spending the money right now, but I don't.  I scored an NOS set of fronts for the 500, and hope I can get them to match the rears I find...  (I may just do a coat of SEM since it is such a great product).

Just remember guys.

SMS auto fab is the company I got my gator grain roof material from and they screwed it up 3 times.

First time they send me a black one for a charger

second time they sent me one for a challenger

Third time they sent me one without the correct seams incorporated on the front pillers.

By the third time I didn't have time to send it back to them again so I just dealt with it.

Looks great but hopefully SMS has gotten there act together since then.

Just wanted to let you all know.

Just so everyone doesn't get confused there are two SMS companies:

SMS Auto Fabrics - http://www.smsautofabrics.com/

&

SMS Auto Restoration Services - http://www.smsmopar.com

I apologize in advance rare69, I don't mean to call you out or anything, but I'm asuming you used the SMS Auto Restoration place. The reason I know there are two different companies is because two years ago I called the heater box restoration place looking for NOS vinyl top material for my 74, that confused the hell out of me. lol.  :-[

Looks like someone that lives near Medford, Oregon needs to go by Dash Specialists and talk to Dean.  Plus, look at a completed dash and door pad to gauge the quality.  Might iinquire about colors other than black.  And while they are there, they can talk to him about a group buy on dashes/door pads.  He said he had been in buisiness for 25 years doing this type of work.  They can also confirm whether he does SMS's work on a contract basis-----which I think is the case.  If he does a lot of business with them, he might not want to tell you that to protect his customer which is completely understandable.  We probably don't need to know that anyway.  I hope this pans out because I sure don't want to have to deal with Just Dashes.

I'd be in for a group buy for sure.

I have a spare set of door pads that I'd offer up as guinea pigs IF I can get a deal - sort of reducing the risk for being a test subject.
If they're good, then my main set would go in for the group buy price. If they're not so good, I'd use the redone spares until I got the others redone and be happy that I didn't pay too much.

I would need to know that they can do white doorpads and match them up nicely with the lower doorpads on the market.

Has anyone seen their stuff?  Proof is in the pudding........

I've had two companies' version of a restoration and they were both done with less than desirable results, "Just Dashes" and "Layson's"...

I will check with them this week and see if I can find out more details

You'd almost be better off finding someone in northern California to have a look at the business. Medford is way the hell down there.

Come to think of it, my brother and a friend (a big Mopar E-body guy) are going to the Medford area this fall for a hunting trip. Maybe I can talk them into stopping in and having a look. I'm not making any promises though. :nono:

I agree, i need to see them. I would live with cracks and chips over poorly shaped lines and contours.
