'69 antenna tightening

Is there a easy trick to tighteing down the antenna hut? I would guess there is a special tool that I don't have.

I am trying to not scratch the paint or new antenna and can only get it hand tight.

Yeah, there is a tool for that. I bought one from a guy on eBay and have used it many times now. I think they are around $12 each.

OK on the subject, a 69 /AM/FM  what kind of ant.? a single piece or telesc.? would be original?? John

For $12.00. Is it really worth the trouble? The time it would take to make it and then the pipe is so much thinner walled. It would probley break on you. You should be able to order it at a good auto parts store. If you can't get one from there, Year-One carries them.

John, The correct antenna is the telescopic one. The single piece one didn't come out until 1972 I believe. I bought my correct one at carlisle this year Why didn't you??? Ron

No $12 is not a big deal I was just a thought as I was hoping to have it before the weekend. Plus Year one would be at least double that with shipping.
