Comes out of a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T.

Perhaps Chris can tell you if he has that car in his registry.  Looks like an early build.

The "XS29L9" confirms that this engine was originally built for a 69 Charger R/T. The "B"  designates the plant....the numbers are the sequential build numbers for that car.

Its going in my 69 charger I  can't decide if i want to build it back stock or go all out.

dodge freak

Stock is for the birds unless you have a time machine and can go back in time and get the good old gas those motors had back then. Today you should have a high power ignition system and a newer type of cam. These new Holley HP carbs are much better too.

Hey, small world, I was just responding to your post on LRRS! :P

69charger2002

i knew with it being build in june of 68 it was gonna be an early 69 R/T.. you should wait before you start the build and just make sure it isn't the #'s matching motor someone is looking for. if it is, you may get something even better out of the deal. i know if i found my numbers matching 69 HP 440 i'd HOOK someone up for it

Hey, that looks kinda familiar; I was looking at basically the same thing last weekend!

Only... mine had a bunch of rust channels between the water channels and the cylinders... ( )

dodge freak

So it needs a good rebuild , you still got a good deal those 440 are getting hard to find, a 1969 I though all those motors were gone.

Man I glad thats not me that has that motor. Not sure if I like to sell it BUT it does belong it the right car if poss. I would not want to rip the guy off either but thats a hard to find motor. Again I glad I don't have to decide-think I sell it if the guy want it. Guess another would come along some day.

Mike, thanks for saving that for me!  I accidentally hit delete by accident.

This is a major event for the registry.  This is one of the core purposes of a registry....to reunite owners, parts, paperwork etc.

I will be contacting both parties individually to set up a possible contact......

PS---he is also a member of this site....

Hey, quick FYI - darkside - If you do decide to sell this back to the numbers matching owner, I *THINK* I've got access to another 440 just a few miles outside of Little Rock.  I'm getting on the phone right now to make sure , and I'll confirm it ASAP.

Good to see neat stuff like this happen and it'd be cool to be part of it :)

defiance

Grr :(

Nevermind, just got off the phone... the guy sold it - no kidding here - last week.

He did say, though, that he happened to know that Merriman wrecking service in Atkins had a few 440s.  No idea if they're HPs or any of that, but at least it couldn't hurt to check I suppose...

Sorry... thought I was going to be a help :(

This is the reason I registered my car with you.  It did take some convincing but I eventually did, even though my 440 is long, long gone.

As I stated, this should be a great story and I would hope to hear the outcome.

This would make a great testimonial for the front page of your site Chris.

I couldn't agree more Chris. It's only inevitable that something like this would occur. I hope the car owner and the current owner of this engine can work something out.  :2thumbs:

Why ANYONE would hesitate to register is beyond me. It can only help the person who wants to register.
