where is attached the interlock unit ?

It looks is around the ashtray ( between ashtray and glove box ) Is on that way ?

If it is... is just floating around or is fixed to some stuff with a fastener screw or bracket ?

If isn't on that way, where suposse the goes down the dash frame ?

hehehe, there are SOME questions on this board that only 74 owners are able answer, so any of them you will be able to check :D

but about this one...

there is a plastic box with two white plugs. the palstic box itself could it be orange, tan or blue on your car ( those are the colors I have seen on web ). Is as far I know located between ashtray and glove box down the dash frame.

Is hooked to some bracket ? screw ? just hanging ?

This harness also it does have an eyelet terminal what is a ground to the unit... where is exactly bolted this ground ?

What is being "interlocked"?  I don't see this on my '74 (non-A/C car).

Nacho-RT74

seatbelt interlock system is a safety system that doesn't let you start the engine without fasten your seatbelt. Consist on a control unit, seat and belts buckles sensors, and reset button under the hood at a side of ignition module. Of course also all the wiring related.

This started on 1974 and as far I know last year 1975, not really sure.

This make difference about earliers models on underdash harness, engine harness, undercarpet harness warning buzzers and horn relay.

Talking about buzzers:
71 to 73 horn relay mounted on fuse box is also the key in switch buzzer. 74 is only horn relay. You can use an earlier horn relay/key in buzzer on a 74 because the extra plug to key in buzzer function will fit on an empty cavity, but if you use viceverse, then won't have key in buzzer function since 74 horn relays don't have that prong.

71 to 73 uses different buzzers to lights on warning buzzer, and seatbelt buzzer ( as far I know used on laters 72 and all 73, not on 71 ). different buzzer for every function.

On 74 was used only one buzzer device to all the functions, located at a side of glovebox ( on back of dash frame at a side of glove box light ). This device also controls the seatbelt warning light, different than earliers were warning light device was controled for same time delay flasher used to cortesy ignition key light. ( except I think 73 ).

The earliers seatbelt buzzer can be used to 74 cars on same plug and then this will buzz on key in and seatbelt light, however won't work with lights on warning buzzer function. This buzzer was instaled from factory depends if you choose the complete lightning package or not.

Talking about reset button. Was installed in case of mechanical work on you car to start the engine without fasten the seatbelt, can be used also in case of emergency if system fails.

Driver side bucket ( or seat side in case of bench ) doesn't have a sensor because is OBVIOUS allways will be a driver sat on car to drive, but then there is a sensor on female belt buckle.

In case of bench or buddy seat, the set up has sensors on seat and buckles. same case to passenger side of bench or bucket.

I'm not completelly sure, but I think 4 doors and station wagons setup has rear seat sensors too. at least is ilustrated on my 74 Mopar parts dealer catalog.

I never have used this system since cars assemblied in Venezuela where I live didn't have anykind of safety system, just a lap belt and that's all. I'm upgrading my car on to a USA 74 Charger Rallye.

Since my car was wired like an earlier model and didn't have rallye cluster, when I got a 74 underdash harness to Rallye cluster ( and the cluster fo course ) I had to remove all the extra wiring and convert to earlier wiring. I didn't have the reset button, multibuzzer and undercarpet wiring to sensors. I also got a 74 interior with sensors

After two years of search, finally I already got the complete 74 setup so I'm getting back everything as it was and it should be up there.
