I have a pic or two. :icon_smile_tongue:

(ooohhh, better get a little closer on that one... :D)

Had enough?? ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Wow C_F - the golf cart General has wayyyyy better options than the Charger based version. And I much prefer that Daisy too. ;D

just don't paint the front bumper orange. i've seen a few of those that were. Looks crapy.
OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!  Well, just your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it but......I've gotten tons of compliments on the painted front bumper of my GL. I was going to swap in a 69 front because I thought the chrome 70 bumper was too much but my friend Pete suggested the painted bumper and I went with it. That was 3 years ago. Like I said tons of compliments and now Steve Strope is doing his 70 Charger project....with a painted bumper!!!!  Hmmmm. Anyway, to each his own, but to me, it not only looks great, but was way cheaper than chrome.

genlee70 - i too think that looks awesome, i mean at least in my opinion a 70 general looks better than a 68 general, but i do still like them all, besides to the general public anything orange with the #'s and the flag looks like a general!!!!  i think it looks awesome :yesnod: :o ;) ;D, even if it is a 70, you could just pick up a front clip and make it a 69.

here is my car, i've since gotten the new vector se's, 15x7 fronts with 225/70/15, and 15x8.5 rears with 275/60/15 BFG radial t/a's.  ;)

i got the horn, CB, rims, just need the pushbar, #'s and flag. :icon_smile_big:

SORRY, didn't mean to bash your Charger. What I meant was, I don't like ANY painted bumpers, or the rubber bumpers. I like chrome. I saw a '70 GL at last years Nats (maybe yours?) and it's a hot car.The chrome loop bumper is really sweet, don't hide it.

No hard feelings man. Like I said, you're entitled to your opnion. To be honest, I was never a fan of the chrome loop bumper anyway...just my opinion....and you know what they say about opinions. I think they should have offered the painted/elastomeric bumpers from the factory on the 70 models.Anyway, painted bumpers on 70 Chargers....may be the start of a new trend...and I'm fine with it...just remember who had it first!!!!!!  ;)

I couldn't agree more Itchy. Sure everybody looks at your General Lee. Especially after blowing that God awful dixie horn half a dozen times or more in a row. They're not looking to see a General Lee from TV or the Movies. They're looking to see what redneck thinks he's the reincarnation of Bo or Luke Duke. I am a Mopar fan through and through but when I see a supposed General Lee on the street, the Nationals, Brice Road or wherever I reserve the right to laugh and point.  Especially when it's anything but a '69. Of course you can make one out of another year Charger or a Ford, or Chevy, or golf cart or 18 wheeler but I'll laugh just the same....even more so really. Go ahead and put a '69 front clip on your so called "General". What you'll have is the automotive equivalent of a woman with breast implants. She wants all the attention but what she get's are stares, giggles and whispers of "doesn't she know how ridiculous she looks?". I usually ignore all the "Generals" at the shows. Not because if you've seen one you've seen them all but it's usually the smell from the roadkill they have grilling behind each and every one. I can't help but wonder how many beautiful Chargers are under those hideous coats of orange paint and decals.

As far as I'm concerned the television show and movie did far more to harm than to help the hobby and to 1969 Dodge Chargers specifically. Doubt me? Then why aren't there enough legit '69's to go around to all the people who want their own "Generals"? I'll wait while you try to think of an answer.

If people fix one up into a GL thats great as another Charger is saved, but I get tired of the dixie horns at shows if they get overzealous with it.

It all depends on who's looking at the car.  Among the serious musclecar & Mopar fans I'm sure there's a lot of people who agree with you.

But like it or not, there's just as many people out there who think a GL clone looks awesome.  And many of those same people might think a stock 1969 Hemi Charger R/T looks hideous.  ("That poor car is wearing barf-green paint, cheesy vinyl top, skinny steel dog-dish wheels . . . Man, why on earth would anyone wanna keep a Charger like THAT?")

And there are other guys who grew up in the 1940s-50s who think any car built after 1960 is a "late model" and is totally boring.  They'll argue all day that "real Hot Rods" have to be fenderless 30s-40s Fords and such.  Some of those guys laugh at ALL musclecars, calling them assembly-line, pre-fabbed, too-comfy "hot rods" for people who don't wanna have to get their hands dirty to build their own bare-bones uncomfortable speed demon.

Everything you could possibly do with a Dodge Charger is guaranteed to make SOMEBODY annoyed.

Ok, while you're waiting, go pour yourself a fresh bowl of cornflakes, because somebody obviously pissed in the first bowl you had this morning!!!
But anyway.....most GL haters are within the Mopar hobby itself, which, to a point is understandable. I mean, they're constantly exposed to the stuff. But, truth be known, the general population out there thinks it's awesome. The amount of positive attention blows me away...at times I'm treated like some sort of celebrity...kind of scary. People riding alongside, filming the car, taking pictures, stopping me at gas stations to pose with the car or asking that I let thier kids "just sit in it" for a picture. I'm not a person who's big on kids, but the looks on their faces is priceless. And yes, if a kid asks me to blow the horn at a show, I will. But I use descretion and limit it to once or twice per show. I used my GL as the "Limo" for my sisters wedding (country music themed, as they met line dancing)  and this woman and her son followed us to the reception hall so her son could look at it. They didn't have a camera so I took a couple shots of the kid with/in the car and emailed them to the woman. She sent an email back thanking me so much. She said her son carries the pictures around every where!!!! That's priceless, man, and that's what it's all about. I built the car for my enjoyment, and the fact that it makes so many others happy is awesome. I'm sorry it rubs others the wrong way, but those four door abominations jacked to the moon with the 22 inch spinners make me puke, I just have the restraint not to attack them directly in a public forum which I know they'll see. Sorry, couldn't resist. Bottom line is the  good far outways the bad and if it bothers you THAT much then some quality couch time seems to be in order. Now close your eyes, breath deep and relaaaaax....go to your happy place.
As far as the Dukes being detrimental to the 69 Charger, that point has been beaten to death here. :horse: but here it goes. I agree the movie did use up what has now become a valuable resource, and that doesn't sit well with me, but the show used some 250 10-15 year old used cars which, if left alone to the natural rate of attrition...mechanical failure, accidents, rot, ect....how many would be left today some 25 years later? How many were wrecked by drunken teens in the 70's/80's who couldn't handle a car with skinnies up front and the rear jacked so high the headlights were useless. Really, 250 cars...out of 89,000....EIGHTYNINE THOUSAND!!!! Do the math...the fact that they're hard to get is becuse they're so popular, not the fact that there are 250 less because of some show.....and please, enjoy you cornflakes.  ;D

Do the math? OK, you tell me how many are left out of EIGHTYNINE THOUSAND. Are you serious? Get your head out of the sand or your ass whichever applies. 250 less because of the show right? How many more for the movie? The pictures of the many 68's and 69's in a recent issue of Mopar Collectors Guide just waiting to be destroyed litterally sickens me and if you really are a fan of the Dodge Charger you would be sickened too. What we enjoy is a non-renewable resource and I don't care how many parts YEAR ONE has on their shelves. When a car is gone it's gone. Also take into account the possability of sequels and how many cars they will chew up. You said "How many would be left today some 25 years later" Are serious? By your own admission mechanical failure, accidents, rot, etc. are eating away at our numbers on a daily basis. We don't need Hollywood reducing our numbers just to put asses in the seats. Besides, is time standing still for you? I don't think so. Another 25 years will pass since our cars were born before you know it. As a fan and hobbyist I will not fill Hollywood coffers. To me it's the same as watching a terrorist kill a family member in front of me and paying him for doing so. Forget the cornflakes pal. After reading your post the glass bowl the cornflakes come in would make a better meal.

It just makes the 69's that aren't Generals that much more valuable and rare.  Thats way I zoned in an 1969 when I bought, I actually prefer the 68 look w/ round tail lights.
