Are you referring to a specific incident? I mean, yea, they're crazy but what makes you bring this up now?

DarkAngel0816

It could be worst I suppose.  They could be obsessed with things that are not healthy at all you know?

As for me I am a Dukes of Hazzard fan...I grew up with it...have lots of memories from it...my cousins, brother and I were all into it.  It is a fun show...a show that started my love for Chargers (I use to carry General Lee's matchboxc cars in my dainty little purse to church when I was little) and now I own one.  Well a 1970 at least.

I mean in the same token...what is the difference between really being into Dukes...or being really into Mopars?  I mean come on...mopars are just CARS?!?!  See what I mean?

Well...I'll say this....The Dukes of Hazzard  is what got me into the Mopar hobby in the first place as with a lot of other people I'm sure.   I'm not sure of the "secret"   you're talking about, but if you are referring to "LEE1"  The car is undergoing a total restoration back to the original General Lee uniform it wore in the opening credits and the first episode "One Armed Bandits"  The car is very rough.   Travis Bell  does have an obsession with the General Lee....but.....so do I.   I think it's great that he is taking the very first General Lee  and restoring it.   Damn...at least somebody is trying to preserve the original.   Can you imagine what that car will be worth when it is finished???  If I had his resources....not to mention his bank account in order to do this....I'd probably be doing the same thing.   All I have is a replica, but it's good enough for me.......And......I don't think that Road Runner wearing the Generals colors  looks right at all   that's just my personal opinion though.

You happen to go to Dukesfest last year in Bristol?  Someone had a newer Beetle dressed up in the General's colors.  Now let me tell you...that looked so funny.  I have a photo of it somewhere.

lol...I know at the North American General Lee Fan Club...(Travis Bell)   there are some unique Generals there.....I guess if ya can't find a Charger......No...I wasn't able to attend dukesfest though

warriorbass05

I took my gang to Dukesfest and they had a blast. I just found another 70 charger sitting in a field in what looks like original paint and I am about to be all over it. It will become a General Lee as fast as I can make it happen. There are not a whole lot of available cars that I have seen here in old Nashvegas, Tn!!! I just want one to build a GL for my kids. that would make their day and mine too since I was 9 when the Dukes came out....

And...you can always change the front clip out from a 70 to a 69  for a GL

Some guys from the NAGLFC went down to Georgia and learned a few things.  Maybe even found a few prop cars left over (no intact GLs).

Is it nutty for them to keep it under wraps for a few months?  Espeically when there might be car deals that still need finalizing?  I don't think so.

JimShine

WTF? Do we need to drag the drama over here? Few on this board really cares about the goings on in the Dukes hobby.

I would much rather hang out with the DOH people than the ricer people. Don't be a hater. ;D

Yeah, what Jim said.  Leave us alone.  Isn't there anything that you collect or are obsessed about.
I'm grateful to Jim Shine for the information he has shared with me over the summer.  A lot of stuff I was unaware of and now I'm a semi educated GL owner.

Hobby:  A pursuit outside ones regular occupation engaged in, for relaxation.

Pursue/pursuit:  To follow in order to overtake, capture, kill,or defeat.  To find or employ measures to obtain or accomplish.
An activity that one engages in as a vocation, profession, or vocation.

See, us DOH lovers are perfectly in the reasonable definition of the word hobby. :icon_smile_big:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Back N Black

How do you know if a General lee is real or a clone ? Did Hollywood record the VIN numbers from every car that they used on the show?  ???

I am actually going to keep my front clip on my 70.  For one day down the road I will probably repaint it back to the original color.  That is as soon as I am able to paint it with the GL colors.

I want mine to be a little different I guess.

just don't paint the front bumper orange. i've seen a few of those that were. Looks crapy. And if you look , you can see the Sport Satellite emblems on the fender. Still worng though.
Now, compare someone's passion for a TV show, or car, or whatever you're into. A few years ago, a group spent millions going to Iceland, a tunneling down 268 feet of ice to recover a WWll P-38 Lightning. Obsessed? In it for the $$? Not when fulley restored P-38s only bring One million, why would you spent  more than that? For the love of it.
Sam with these 30+ old cars. Why do some people spend 5-6 figures on a car? It is just a car, right?

I suppose that next, you are going to try to convince me that Star Trek was "just a SHOW!" too.
