Can anyone tell me if later 440s (1976-78) were internally or externally balanced? Sorry for the silly queston. :P Thanks!

My understanding is externally, EXCEPT for the forged crank ones...  I think.  I know my 440 was originally a '76, and it's external balance, anyway.

all cast crank 440's were externally balanced...    these are generally post 73 i believe

Thanks guys! Another question. Are fluiddamper harmonic balancers for both internal and external balanced engines? I'm thinkin of useing one on my 440. Thanks again!

no the fluid damper is not correct for an external balance 440
Mopar has a Billet balanced SFI rated Damper if available
