Moparfest - Summary & Pics

Went to Moparfest this past weekend in New Hamburg, ON - about an hour and a bit from Toronto.  Dodge Don and I set out bright and early and were there before the gates opened.  Our plan was to grab a parking spot up front so we didn't waste a lot of time getting out of there as we had planned on leaving pretty early because I had to attend a hockey game that afternoon.

Once we arrived we went straight to the swap meet area.  Now this area is pretty small compared to what you'd see at Carlisle or Columbus, but there were plenty of vendors there, some with good stuff at good prices, some with bad stuff at bad prices.  There was lots to choose from.

Don got some items for his '70 resto that he had been looking around for for quite some time and he got a really good deal on them.  He needed the grommets that go on the ends of the cowl and in the ends of his doors for his power window wiring harness.  He was quite pleased with his purchase.   :punkrocka:

Myself, I ended up getting a bushing for my wiper motor linkage as well as a couple other odds and ends.  I don't really need anything major but I always bring extra cash in case I see something that is better than what I got.

A side story - On the way there, Don started telling me about a FY1 '70 Charger R/T SE he owned way back in the day.  He had sold it locally and the fella restored it and then sold it to someone in NY.  As we cruised through the swap meet area, Don recognized the name of one of the vendors and then tells me that this is the guy that he sold his car to, about 15 years ago.  Don and this fella talked about the car and yes indeed, this was the guy.  He also had a fender from the car for sale as well as some of the tan interior pieces.  To add a bit more, Chris G., had told Don that he had seen a '70 FY1 Charger R/T SE at a local car show (not sure when this was) and he had taken photos of it.  Sure enough it was Don's old car.  One of those "kinda cool" car stories.   :yesnod:

We met up with Spike, who was helping out the folks from Metro by working their booth.  Spike seemed like a nice guy and that was confirmed when he offered us a beer.     We chatted for a bit an then went to finish browsing the swap meet section and look at some cars.

We went to the car coral, saw some slugs and some decent stuff.  Saw 1970 Charger 500 with a 383 and a 4spd that looked to be in pretty good condition for $26,500.00 CDN.  Not a bad starting point for someone that wants to get into the hobby and start of with a running and driving 2nd gen Charger.

Also saw a 1972 Charger for $75,000.00 CDN.  Don & I agreed that this fella was just appeasing his Wife by agreeing to sell the car.  At the end of the weekend, "sorry honey, no bites".   :icon_smile_big:

Went for a bite to eat and a few beers in the beer tent, as discussed on the other thread, and hooked up with Spike again and found Troy also.  Looked around for others but it can be difficult if you don't know who your looking for.   :shruggy:  We had a few beers, shot the breeze for a bit and then had to take off.  The elaborated story in the other thread was just that.  We were all quite civilized!   ::)

As mentioned, the rain came down pretty hard but what can one do.  Had a good time, hope you enjoy the photos even though I didn't get that many because I saw a lot of the same cars as last year.  You can see many photos on this link http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,1755.0.html

There are some TAG photos for you Chris as Don already has his for the '70 site.

Nice.  I have yet to attend that show.  It seems I'm always either broke or broken after Columbus each year.  I think for 2007 one of my personal goals is going to being making it to both Carlisle and New Hamburg.  :icon_smile_approve:

Hey Shakey it was great meeting up with you and Don  :2thumbs: The rain killed Saturday afternoon but it allowed me to stay for a few more cold ones with you guys. Troy was a little upset with the rain! Love the green hood Bud  :nana: We hung out for a while, checked out the cars in the rink, walked around the field a little and made the best of a rainy afternoon....oh and I did make it back to work at the Metro tent  :icon_smile_big:

Hey deputy saw you at Tims at the Bramalee show .I had my son and a 71 Charger R/t .We met at the end of the show.Made a last minute decision and brought the charger to New Hamburg on Sunday.Didn't meet up with anyone unfortunatly ,probably to late.
I did make a deal though.Traded a 26 inch cowl and some cash for one of those pistol grips.Must say it does look good.By the way I diid see that chally. What amazed me is that it started and wached it being driven to the oter side of the park.
