Are carb numbers make-specific?

For example, would you be able to find a Carter carb for a Charger with the same numbers on a GM or AMC? Specifically I'm looking for a Carter BBD-4422S 2bbl (1968 383/2bbl/4spd only) and since they're so hard to find I was wondering if I should start looking at AMCs, GMs, Ford, for the same number.

A website chart I looked at showed it was also used on 1968 D100, D200, and D300 Dodge pickup trucks with 383/manual.

A guy in Arkansas that has been dealing in carbs since the 50's said he would call me back tomorrow. I gave him the carburetor number.

Also looked it up in an old Hollander junkyard interchange manual.  It showed the 4422 also used on 1968 Chrysler cars with 383/manual, and Plymouths with 383/manual.  It did not show interchanging with other makes, unlike some other parts in the manual.

Oh, thanks! I didn't know they came on the pickups but I knew about the Plymouth and Chrysler application. However, I bet there weren't very many Chrysler 4 speeds
