Transmission adapter

I have been kicking the idea around for a while putting an overdrive tranny in my 74 D100 440 automatic pickup, since I already have a 700r4 already rebuilt sitting on my garage floor I was wondering if anybody had a schematic or a diagram to build an adapter? I have access to a machine shop so building it my self wouldn't be too bad, I think. I know that I can buy one but if I can build it myself it will probably be feasable to do otherwise when you start adding up all the costs it probably isn't worth doing for as much as I drive the pick-up, or does any body have an adapter kit for sale?
