It was the most fun i've had in a movie theater... the movie its self isn't great, but its was by no means bad. I was in the early showing with all the weirdos (like me) who have been looking forward to this movie... i don't know if it would be as fun if those people wern't in the theater.

anyway... if you like to laugh at bad acting, like to see Samual L Jackson be a BadA$$, if you are just looking for a fun movie... then yeah go see it and you'll like it.

I saw the interview that Jon Stewart did with Samuel Jackson, that alone made me want to see it, just because of Jacksons whole attitude about it. I bet its not half as bad as we're all expecting. but I have been wrong before.

I'll bet you $20 he was promised kick-backs on the box office percentage. That's the only reason I can think of for him pushing it so hard.

Mike DC

I saw it tonight.

It was crap.
It was fun crap, but 75% of that was because of the eager people in the theater laughing at everything about it.

The idea of it might work:  Taking the "Snakes on a Plane" concept and making a totally so-bad-it's-good movie that audiences love to ridicule.
But this movie was still not quite aware enough of its own crappitude.  It was still a little too close to just watching something really bad and feeling ripped off.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a lot of fun tonight watching this with some friends in a crowded theather full of teenagers.
But if I'd seen it for the first time alone on cable TV when I had the flu some afternoon, I'd probably say it was worthless.

Think Blair Witch Mark II. That is the hype generated by blogs on the net make a huge groundswell for it. All the hardcores will see it this weekend and in three weeks it'll more than likely be gone.

Funny after the Blair Witch debacle they said it could never be done again. ;D

When I first saw the preview I was sure I was watching a SNL or Mad TV skit. I could not believe it was a real movie. Has it really come to this? The snakes are really bad looking CGI too.

That's what I thought too.

The snakes looked mostly real in the movie itself.

Yeah there were some CGI shots during the actual attacks & stuff, but they must've also had a lot of real snakes crawling around the set for the rest of the footage.

Want to see Jackson at his best, watch  "The Negotiator",  "Pulp Fiction", or "Jackie Brown"

Well it box-officed at $15.3 million for the weekend. With the blogwagging it got the pros figured mid to high $20 million range. And Samuel in Pulp Fiction is a sight to behold.

saw it last night. I agree with the opinion that its so bad its good. You know that at some point the people making the movie realized how bad it was so they just decided to go all out. I have to say tho, I had a good time.

like Mike DC said...this one will probably only be funny at the theater with a bunch of people, or if you have a bunch of friends over to watch it.

$15.3 million for opening weekend. That placed it 61st out of the last 62 movies that opened in 3500 theaters or more. Only the Lindsay Lohan Herbie movie did worse. So looks like the love of the blog hype exceeded the love of the movie.

That's still better than I thought it would do.

Of course, now this movie will spawn a long flood of terrible straight-to-DVD imitations.

And the imitations will all have titles very similiar to the original so you get confused.

:iagree:

So we'll have such neo-classics as, "Snakes on a Subway", "Snakes on a Bus", or possibly just sticking with the reptile theme, "Bearded Lizards on a Commuter Jet", to look forward to?  ::)

I'm all for cheese (I'll admit to owning one of the hundreds of copies of, "Surf Nazis Must Die" :D), but most do horribly at the box office and consequently are religated to becoming 'cult classics'.

Where as this one might make enough money to bring us a crop of even cheaper knock-offs for the near future.  :icon_smile_blackeye: :icon_smile_angry:

I seen a show the other night about airlines having problems with mice on planes. Maybe they should put some snakes on planes to eat the mice?!
