been working on the charger today, and as i had it idling in the yard this relay began to click acouple times then it quit...i didn't think much of it and kept doing what i was doing...well after i shut it off and went to restart it, i can't start it by the key, the ignition comes on and i can start it by crossing over the starter relay...i figured the starter relay was bad so i replaced it but it still does the same thing. This relay i found under the dash still clicks when i turn on the ignition, but it still won't engage the starter by the key (but as i say i can jump the starter relay on the fender and it fires right up...) here's a pic of the relay maybe someone can tell me what exaclty it does and where i can get a new one...
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Looks like the headlamp door relay/circuit breaker.

Try unplugging the headlamp door wiring connector and see if it stops clicking when the ignition switch is turned on.

Your starting problem sounds like it could be the neutral safety switch.

It's not a midlife crisis, it's my second adolescence.

Plum is correct. That is the relay/circuit breaker for the hideaway headlight doors. They don't make them any more. They pop up on ebay every now and then or a place that sells used stuff, like MoPar City, Stephen's Performance would have them.

both boys are correct- that relay will turn on with the ing. key in the run postion. it's not affecting the starting problem!

:iagree:  Ordinarily I'm pretty much clueless, but this sounds exactly like what I was experiencing last summer.  Intermittent non-startability ;)  One time when it wouldn't start, one of my friends crawled underneath and completed the starter circuit with a long screwdriver and it fired right up.

When I got home I unplugged the neutral safety switch plug from the tranny, and followed the wires back until I found the spot where the insulation had either rubbed or melted away, and the wire was grounding against the case.  I spliced in a new middle (since both ends had special connectors) and its all good now.  Make sure you secure the new wire with the ... uh... whaddya call those things...  those bendy tab things attached to the body that hold the wires away from the hot engine and tranny.
