Are VIN's stamped anywhere on the Dodge's from 1971-1973 (frame, motor)?  Or is it just Dash and Fender tag?

71superbee

On my 71 Super Bee, the Vin# is stamped on

the drivers side of the dash, by the left lower corner of the windshield

the fender tag on the drivers side inner fender

the silver label on the rear edge of the drivers door

The last 8 digits of the Vin are stamped on

the back side of the radiator core support

               the wiper cowl

               the engine block

               and the transmission

There MAY be other places ????  not sure .....hope this helps

With the last 8 digits...Do you think there is a way to come up with the first part of the VIN?

Here's my reason...

There's a 1973ish dodge challenger for sale but it has no title or VIN...It's a Strip Race Car.  I was wondering if there were any places that the VIN would have remained.  It's got fiberglass doors, hood, and fenders.  All aluminum dash....so that knocks out all obvious places for the VIN...After I get the VIN I would go to Broadway Title for the rest.

Any additional help would be appreciated.
Thanks...

To my knowledge there is no other place on the car that would have the COMPLETE vin#. To get a title for it you have to go to you state DMV office and have them issue a STATE vin#. They should be able to provide you with all of the requirements to get a title. It may be treated the same as a kit car or something like that.

It has a fender tag!!!....does that have the whole VIN on it?

I have a similar problem with my 53 dodge pickup , rat rod. the numbers used in the title on stuff this old were only on the engine. obviously the old flathead 6 is long gone. I have the title and can get a plate issued to that title, just have no way of proveing that its for my truck unless i get the state to issue a title and vin#

Yes it has the complete vin.

Is there a site to check the history of the VIN?  To make sure it's legit?

Here's the fender tag...can you guys decode it for me?

You gonna buy the Challenger too?   Wow.

The VIN is JH23G2B192208

It is a gold with white vinyl top 318-2 barrel auto tranny car.  It had bucket seats with a console and was an early build '74 car (though I may be mistaken)

A thoroughly unremarkable Challenger.  My suggestion would be to make a race car out of it...or at least a cool hot rod.  Not really worth "restoring" it but a great car to have fun with.

So you got the brougham huh?  Did you check the frame rails?
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

xsuperjoex

You should come over and check this one out!  Frame rails are perfect!  Still have most of the original undercoating on it.

By the way the Challenger is already a race car... ;)

I'll do that.  For some reason, I no longer have the ability to PM on this board ( You paying attention Troy?!?!)  and your number made its way out of my call list. Send me an email to chargercraig@hotmail.com and we'll work it out.

So...you gettin the Chally?  That'd be one hell of a fun project.

73 Charger 440

I recall the last 8 numbers being stamped under the trunk weather-stripping? (Ive never really checked)...

Chargerguy74

It is a 318 1972 Challenger hardtop. And was built Oct. 11 1972.

EDIT: Yes it should have been 1971, I was just correcting the month on another post, but typed the wrong year.

Since it is a 1972 model year car, it was built on Oct. 11 1971 (model year production began approximately August 1st each year).
