Saw this Charger yesterday. Called, yep it's for sale $500.00
Plane jane 72, rust everywhere. Only thing savable would be the hideaways, rear lights, some trim and all the glass. I offered him $250.00. Too much you think??

Few more pics of the diamond in the rough. It'a at a local garage, owner of garage said his friend drove it over there with the intention of fixing it up. He couldn't remember how many years ago his friend brought it over, at least 5 to 10 he said. Plates show last time on road was 1987.

Its well worth $250 especially since its local to you.

Charger1973

Also theres alot more savable there than you might think.

Hell, you could probably get a easy $1,500 just for the usable parts I see in the pics if you sold them on ebay.  If you get it, and are intested in parting it, I'd buy the bumperets off it from you if you can get them off without snapping the bolts. For that price, I would of had it home already :yesnod: I'd still get it even if he would not come down off the $500 asking price.

I don't know. It does have an uncut Rallye dash, and the interior panels are in decent shape. The pics make it look a lot better than it is. Check out how the front valence has rusted in half. The front bumper is rusted through. The back bumper is bent from towing something to heavy. Every body panel except the roof has mega rust.
The garage owner was going to see the car owner tonight and give him my offer. If you really think there's that many good parts maybe I should get it even if he won't come down on price.

I just realized it has the chrome strip that runs across the rear by the trunk lid and and goes onto the quarter extentions. And around the front of the front fenders. I'd buy those off you too :yesnod: And I guess your right then if it is that rusted. But you still could cover you cost of the car easy. Take what you want, sell the rest, junk what you can't sell. Nothing to loose for that price. Hell, I'll give you $150 just for the parts I could use.

my rule of thumb is that just about any intact 3rd Gen parts car  is worth $500. The value of the dash cluster, wiring harness, non ac dash insert, antenna, int panels, hood release, and hideaways is around the $500 mark, anything else is gravy.  getting it for 250 is :2thumbs:,  getting it for 500 is    I`d be curious if it has front and rear sway bars and be looking at the condition of the trim such as front of hood, rear of hood, drip rails, belt moldings, trunk lip,  etc etc.  last time i bought a car like that, i also recouped $170  when i dragged the carcass to a local  metal recyclers.

Yep, I would come get the rally dash (for a fair price) from ya if you did not want to use it on your cars  :yesnod:

Here's the way the conversation would have gone had I found this car:

Me:  Whatcha goin' to do with that old Dodge out back?

Owner:  I've been itchin' to sell the damned thing, it's kinda in the way.....

Me: What do ya want for it?

Owner: FIVE HUNERT BUCKS!

Me:  Got a title?

Owner: Yep!

Me:  I'll be back in twenty minutes with the cash and a trailer.

Done deal...

69charger2002

amen to that.. any 66-74 charger that is still "there" meaning has over 50-75% of it's parts, is without a doubt worth $500 in one way or another.. a no brainer these days

Looks like a good deal to me. The fact its been off the road for so long means that the car had ten less years for some PO to chop the harnesses to pieces. I like that cluster ALOT.

Ok, OK, I get the message, yes I'm an idiot. :spank: :spank: :spank:
I stopped by the shop today, the shop owner hasn't talked to the car owner yet, he said the guy would take less than $500. just to get it out of the yard. I'm hoping he calls tonight so I can get the car this weekend if possible.

Good eyeballs AK. Yes that's a PAFB sticker from 1987. Apparently the owner died and his Dad stored the car in his back yard for ten years. The current owner bought it planning to restore it, It only has 80k miles on it.

Grab it!  I'd be up for some trivial stuff to buy from you like brackets and things like that.  Plus with you owning a 71 and 72 the extra glass would be a good thing to have.  :icon_smile_cool:

I see lots of good parts. The hide a ways have to be worth the asking, plus the glass,dash,etc....

I'll buy the dash pad, maybe some other stuff if you get it.
Nothing personal, just business

Well, the owner of the car dissappeared. I stopped by the garage several times in April and May and the shop owner couldn't get a hold of his buddy, even tried calling him at work, his boss said he never showed for work one day and hasn't seen him since. The shop owner refused to sell me the car for his friend so I kinda gave up. Since I now work only 3 miles from where the car sits I stopped by at lunch time on Monday, car is still there. Shop owner says "yup he came by three weeks ago, wants 500 firm". I asked him why he didn't call me. "Lost your business card" was the answer. Of course the NAPA delivery guy overheard the entire conversation. "Only 500 bucks for that Mopar? Mopars are red hot right now, that's a steal" ::) The shop owner mentioned that two other guys looked at the car last weekend. I tried to give him a down payment but he said don't worry, I'll hold it for you. Tuesday morning I was at the bank at 9 AM, at the garage at 9:30, my buddy with a rollback was right behind me and we had the car loaded and out of there in 15 minutes.
The pics make it look better than it actually is.

Twilt's right. I have a 71 & 72. We all know how few aftermarket parts are made for these cars. I intend to keep 90% of the saveable parts off this car. It will probably be next month before I start parting it out. I will list any parts for sale in the appropriate section at that time.
