Whats your excuse for not going to the Mopar Nats?

I noticed that this site has been kinda slow for a few days. I guess everybody is on their way to the Nats.. Whats your excuse for not going?
Mine is that i am trying to save up the $$ for another 72 Charger. I`m tired of buying/owning cars that need more work than i have the time to accomplish. I`ve started selling off some parts, may sell 1 or 2 of my project cars, to buy another 72 that needs little or nothing.

terrible one

Mine is that I don't have the gas money to get there, and my Charger is years from being finished.

yes, too far for me, although the Readfield Maine Nationals are tomorrow..LOL
1 Mile from my house.  :icon_smile_big:
population, well about 200 I guess.  Lion's are putting it on so i'm sure there will be some cars there.
Maybe i'll remember to bring my camera to show you all some maine girls.  Stand by, that will get 70 Charger 500 off the hook and i'll take the beating for a while....hee hee.

OOOHHH,  OOOHHH!!!  I have a really good excuse!!!

I'll spell this out a little better in another thread, but a guy from RC2/ERTL came to the shop this week and took about 300 pictures of the Hemi R/T to use in an upcoming Authentic Series diecast release!

Hmmm... 'Nats, or having my Charger immortalized in top-notch diecast form...

Gotta give props to Just_6T9_CHGR.../Chris for setting me up with that deal, as it was really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.  Chris' car would have fit the bill wonderfully, but I live a little closer to Dyersville, IA than SINY...

More details to follow, including pictures.

I would have moved the same day they told Chris they were coming to his house if they used his car. No way I could have lived with that sort of hype... not to mention ego.  :P

Nice job Geno! Car is well deserving. I was wondering when the cat would be let out of the bag.

The Nats is something I want to go to, but cash and the fact that nobody local wants to make the journey makes me hesitate. Driving and hotel costs would be a breeze if I had a group of 3 wanting to go.  :-\

My excuse would be the total lack of organization that they have at that show. I've decided that until they get organized I'll boycott the show.

I was going to go...without the Charger BUT I do not trust my daily driver-98 Mustang.  That thing has been in and out of the shop at least every two weeks since August of LAST YEAR.  Damn thing.  As soon as the Charger is paid off...than I am going to get a more reliable truck.

Plus I had to go to my doctor yesterday for a breathing treatment...and I am still having issues breathing and than I woke up this morning and slammed my toes into something and my one is all messed up now. lol  Not been a good weekend.

I really wanted to go, but I did go into my town tonight and met Dave (ugh I cannot remember your name on here) who has a killer 68 Charger!!!!!  Loved it.  :)

I agree this is the sorriest show I have ever been too not organized at all. I went the other year for first time. I got there at 9;30 on Fri morn and drove through and there was no where to park for all the mini vans and stock beat up dodge trucks that bought show spaces that they sent me out to the parking lot to park with the spectators. I went too complane and they told me that was normal? most people that get there late have to park out there?. They said if you want a good spot come in on thur morning early and leave your car and don't drive it all weekend.  So I got there at 7;30 sat morn and got in but got to park beside 7 99 up mini vans and a few beat up dodge trucks and there was even a Chevy caviler near me with a show sticker? I did enjoy Brice road very much but I hear they are trying to put a stop to that also!!!

What did you like or dislike?

I've been going since the first one so it's as much a big stupid party for me as anything else.  A buddy and I go each year and it's our version of deer hunting or an annual fishing expedition.  That is probably why I alway have a good time at the Nats, I have no expectations beyond meeting my friends and hanging out.  There are a group of guys from different areas of the US and Canada that I only see once a year and that is where.  I'm not naive enough to try and convince anyone that the show is without flaws but my attendance is for different reasons than most.
Now as for which other shows I attend, the rest are a little more haphazard although I think I am going to start trying to make Carlisle a regular thing.  I was going to try and make it this year but I had some other previous plans which over-ruled it.   471 Magnum and I are probably going to make some parts of the Power Tour for next year as well.  For me, I'm thinking the Cleveland to Kalamazoo leg.
