So I emailed this guy and asked if he REALLY wanted $9500 for this car:

http://www.dealsonwheels.com/popular/Default.aspx?page=1&make=dodge&model=charger

Judging from his sarcastic yet funny responses, he actually thinks he might!   I'd love to show him this thread with your estimate as to what it's worth.   I told him 3-4k at most, mainly due to the Dana.

**Not in cars for sale section as I'm not advertising it for him, but getting comments instead.**

So its a 68 with 70 seats, 69 R/T quarter emblems (yes i'm captain obvious tonight)

whats going on with the trunk floor?  previous fix?

I'm gonna say its worth $5000 if the quarters are saveable and he has the grille for it in good condition.

Kinda funny, just had a guy call me with a car in similar shape (68 383 auto car, rotted). He wanted $15,000!!! I told him I wouldn't pay ANYWHERE near that. To me both these cars are worth about $3500 tops.

Blakcharger440

Wow Incredible. Not worth 9500. He should fix it himself if its that valuable to him.

rt green

how much for the checkered flag? i'm afraid to ask. wouldnt be a bad starting point, if the price was realistic

THE COLONEL

I agree with you guys.  Maybe 4-5 thousand, but not more then that!

It looks like there are a lot of parts missing in his photos of the "complete trim so you can finish it yourself".
Thanks once again to Barrett-Jackson and E-bay for keeping the dreams alive for delusional people everywhere.

So it was a green 383 column(?) auto that's partially converted to a 4-speed but now has no engine or trans? It looks to have the rear window defogger, the radio bezel, and a woodgrain wheel though. That, along with the Dana, should make a person forget all about the fact that it's been wrecked pretty hard in the front. I wonder what the front bumper looks like? (Check out the hood and passenger fender.) The ad never mentions a grill. I'd bet that most all of the pot metal is trashed (mainly taillights) and it looks like the vinyl top trim holes have been Bondo'd over. A rough estimate is that it will cost $2,000-4,000 for sheetmetal depending on if/when you can find decent fenders and another $3,000-6,000 for body work unless the frame is bent from the crash and then it's anyone's guess. After all that you'd still need an engine, trans, and interior.

Check out these other prices - I wonder if they've all been smoking the same stuff?:
71 Charger $58,000 - 440 w/4-speed but still...
70 Charger R/T $115,000 - #s matching 6 pack? but it's gold
70 Charger R/T $100,000 - hemi orange, 14k miles
70 Charger R/T $67,500 - original sublime
69 Dodge Charger R/T $69,000 - a 4-speed in #1 condition though
68 Charger (non-R/T) $79,500 - it has a 6 pack though...
68 Charger R/T $59,900 - but it has 22s...

The best deal in that whole mess is the Daytona with a Hemi installed for $220,000.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

i have a friend who is selling a 68 R/T 440/4bbl trak-pak car fully restored for $55K  He drives it around every once and a while.  I asked him about the price and thought to myself, well who knows?

I asked him how many offers he has had, he said many, but none near the price he wants.  I guess that is why he still has it huh?

The website should have it's name changed to Dreamers with Wheels.  Those prices are crazy.
No, it ain't a Hemi.....thank God!

That thing looks like it was used in the latest Dukes movie...and came out badly. :P

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

That car is a mess!  I've got a wrecked parts car sitting in the feild thats in better shape (and a lot more complete) then that one, and I got it for FREE!  At most, I'd offer him $800.00 for it, and thats just for the parts, which aren't many considering the condition of those.

I mean, lets think about this for a moment.  What exactly does this car have going for it?

Uhm... its a 2nd Gen Charger.

OK, what else?

Uhm... its a second gen Charger.

Hows the interior? - Trashed or missing.

Hows the body? - wrecked, rusted and bent.

Floor & trunk pans? - Very questionable at best, trunk is shot.

Dash? - Needs complete restoration. Missing guages?  Is that a tic-tock?  Has A/C parts

Glass? - Glass might be OK.

Grill? - none

Non-reproduced parts? - Hood trashed, drivers fender needs repair, passenger fender trashed, deck lid might be OK, roof looks decent.

Under the hood? - stripped, many missing parts.  No engine or transmission.  Rear end needs rebuild.

Pile of parts? - Mostly unservicable junk.

Cost for show quality restoration?  $60,000 (my estimate, subject to interpretation)
Value of car completely restored?  $45,000 (realistic, not Barret-Jackson)
Overall profit? - Negative $15,000
Reason for buying?  $800 worth of parts.

I just bought a 68 charger in better condition with a hell of a lot more parts than what I see in those pics for $1000.  I hauled out 3 pickup loads so far and there's still more to get and I still haven't took the car.
When I was just a very young lad I looked up and told my dad, a bareback rider's what I wanna be.  I want the whole world to know about me.  In the rodeo arena I'll make my stand.  I wanna be a rodeo man.  I'll come flyin' from the chute with my spurs up high, chaps and boots reachin' for the sky.  Spurin' wild with my head throwed back, you'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.  You'll ask 'Who's that,' well that's Bareback Jack.

Yeesh! I paid what amounted to $1000 for my 69 and it came with an engine!
Mine was probably in similar condition.

Hell if someone pays that much for that...than I would have to say that MINE with all of its issues is worth at least 100 grand.  lol  And I will have to get me an ad in that deals thing to get it sold.
I love my 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Clone

Drache

deals on wheels is one of the WORST placed to look for vehicles and you can see why. I think it has something to do with having to pay so much for placing an ad that people figure they want the most they can get for their car. Not to mention the owner of that car probably say what a couple restored cars are going for in that same magazine and decided his must be worth it.
