I have an old Canon Power shot 350 that was given to me with no software.  I also have an old nhand me down computer in which this camera is not an option in setup.  I have tried to download the driver from the Canon website with no luck.  I need to post some updated pics of my Chargers....anyone know how I can get this camera to work ???

Silver R/T

You have to make sure your camera is compatible with computer you're running. If it was designed only for Windows 98 you're most likely wont be able to run it on XP

I'm guessing it's too late for that Silver (he already took the pics on that camera).

Holy cow Skyview69 - that camera is oooooold! Ok, it has no USB but do you have any sort of cable? I think it's supposed to have a serial cable (looks like an old joystick or printer plug). The camera itself shoots pictures in jpeg format so if you can read the disk at all then you can upload those pictures here. It is supposed to have a compact flash card in it. You could buy a card reader and then treat it just like another hard drive - no software necessary. You can also try this link: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=324&modelid=8251. Click on "Drivers / Software" in red. A new window will pop up with links for drivers and also a troubleshooting guide.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Thanks guys.  I know the camera is a relic but when it is free I guess you have to take what you can get!  Yes there is a cable that you described.  I will try your suggestion when I get home from work :yesnod:

thank you!

I would definitely recommend going with a card reader.  Especially if you have a newer computer with a USB (or USB 2) port.  I used to have an ancient camera with a serial-type cable, and it was so slow it was mind numbing.  The difference between downloading a tiny 8MB card went from 45 minutes to about 3 seconds, literally.  Also, as troy mentioned, it's plug n play, with no need to mess with drivers or downloads or anything else.  They're pretty cheap now too, this is an example of what you would need:

Well...I went to the site Troy posted and downloaded the driver.  I installed it and it says it is installed on my PC but I cannot find it or get it to work ???  How much does this card reader cost and  what would I ask for when purchasing?  I am not very computer savvy.

Just tell them you need a "compact flash USB card reader."  Anyone in the computer department of a Best Buy or Circuit City will know what you're talking about.   They might point you towards a "multiple card reader" (like the one in the amazon link) that can read several different types of media cards, just make sure it can read a compact flash card.  Here's one from Best Buy.
