how fast would a stock weight 68 charger run in the quarter with a 3:73 rear end, 727 torqueflight (built to take the power), and Indy Legend (hemi) with 730hp @ 6300 and 660tq @ 4700 run?

Depends how well the chassis is built and if that power can be put to the street.  :P  730hp is enough power to propel a full weight charger into the low 10's high 9's if everything is "right".

But it won't be as simple as buying those three items, dropping them in, and going out to run in the 9's.

I figured that.  I have already bought an Alterktion setup with the 13" wilwoods. Maybe you guys can tell me what you think of this rear suspension set-up. I'd like to buy the monoleaf springs from calvert racing and also put on the caltracs.  I am also looking at the strange 60 setup from strange engineering with detroit locker and 3.73 gears.  Along with a built 727 and a gearvendors over/under unit I think it should be pretty driveable on the street/highway.  I currently have a rollcage in the car and I'm going to have someone else install subframe connectors before I get the engine in.  This car is going to be a street/strip car and I'd like it to be driveable as well, which is why I bought the alterktion.  Please let me know what you think of my part selection, and anything else I might need as well.

The altercation is nice, but the stock suspension works well with some upgrades. I wouldn't consider stock suspension any kind of handicap.....many very fast b-bodies use the stock stuff with no issues. The caltracs and monos are great. The ride with the caltracs can be rough so you need to loosen them off when driving on the street....it's an easy 5 minute adjustment. A dana 60 is a must for a motor of this magnatude....no question there.

The rollbar and connectors will really stiffen up the chassis and keep the body from twisting into a pretzel when it hooks up. The gear venders unit is supposed to be indestructable but i've got no direct experience with one. Are you planning on mini-tubbing the car ? A stock 68 wheelwell is limited to a 29.5in diameter tire and around 13in wide.  ;)

I really like power steering with rack and pinion, I would also like this car to handle like a bat out of hell, with little free play in the wheel, which is why I got the alterktion.  Is 13" wide enough tire with a slick to hook up?  Would you personally invest in a mini tub for this kind of application?

Yep, but everything need to be setup right. Here's a pic of one badazz 68 RT that runs 9.90's with a 740hp wedge. The car weighs 3900 lbs, all steel (except hood) 4.10's, caltracs and 29x12.5in Hoosiers.  :icon_smile_cool:

That's pretty fast, nice looking car too.  Thanks for the info!
