Expect a Hemi Viper or no Viper at all?

6.4L 550-600 HP HEMI VIPER...

Just a guess, but they have this motor in some drift cars for testing.   Prices have been tentatively set for crate motors also.   I hear they're sick of the Z06 already and they aren't going to mess around anymore with the v10...

Has the Z06 been cleaning up Vipers on the tracks?  I dont follow that at all but now i'm curious.

Cool but 6.4 still is a little small but is a whole lot better than 5.7, whats a 440 stoker something like 8.2 ?

Stock for stock, the Z06 is about 1/2 second quicker in the 1/4 and will be pulling away from the VIPER after that.   I'm unsure of how they are doing competitively, but I believe the vette is superior there as well...

That must be the new 7.0L Z06 that is beating the Viper right?

Plus, that Hurst shifter must be worth 5K alone.  ;)
I thought for sure you were gonna say the big red starter button on the dash. ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I just think its one of the coolest things to come out of DCX/Mopar Performance in a long time. I'm sorry to see it go. I hope to one day own one. But for now, it will have to wait. Being out on the road working most of the year, it just dosen't make sense to spend a ton of cash on something I won't be able to drive right now.  :icon_smile_big:

Besides, I kinda like the "Redneck Viper", as my Wife calls it. It was made for fat-asses like me who can't fit in a Viper or a Vette'.  :D

Well for a truck it is kind of cool , it would be so great if more trucks and SUV's on the road were like the STR-10, not just a gas hog thats is slow, but a gas hog thats fast also, thats what a real gas hog is. Well nobody can't say that Chrysler did not try, the price is a big turn off I think not the milage.

Yes, the new one.  The old one couldn't touch the Viper.

I've actually entertained the idea of selling my Charger and getting the new Z06. Then I think about depreciation.  :icon_smile_sad:

So are these trucks gonna be like the aero cars that sat on dealer lots for years and then 30 years later they will be highly sought after?

I doubt it.

I just recently read something about them reworking the v10 to make 650 hp, so maybe I'm wrong about a hemi-viper.   We'll have to wait and see.

Actually No, thet race against each other in the Speed GT world challenge where they are about equal in lap times , but the Viper has about a 30% restrictor on the intake and carries an extra 200 lbs to try and even the field. [ They try to base a formula for each manufacturer to make for closer racing]

Part of the problem is - very low payload capacity, and with the extensive rework of the suspension to make it handle...cannot get one with a tow package.  I considered getting one but the tow package was the deal breaker for me. Because I would have traded in my '03 Ram 1500 4x4 Hemi in on one.  But so far the '03 1500 does everything I ask, is plenty fast, and reliable.

Altough somewhat off topic, for the next viper coming out, they are removing the steeel (I think thats what it is) sleeves in the v10 now and putting a titanium coating instead.  Suppose to be 600 horse.  Here in Windsor (Canadas motor city) we have several engineers and the like who get a few details.

over at allpar...
they're sayin the next viper is gonna be modular so they can do the firepower too with it's  hemi and even a mid engine, though details on that last bit seem a bit scetchy I think the Firepower will become a reality.
But, who knows?.. I've been disapointed alot by DCX since '99...  :P
everythings' two years late, two hundred Lbs. overweight, has two too many doors.. and is ugly.  :icon_smile_wink:

here's a link to allpars' news and rumors thread, something to do with DCX in Videos... but half way down a Mr. Wheatking provides the Tip...
