I had to spend a bunch of money on a very hard-to-find tool.  Call Snap on or Mac and tell them you need the following tool.

Phillips head screwdriver

It may take two or three calls, but someone's bound to have one.

Sorry for being a smartass but every charger I've seen used phillips screws to hold the cap and trim ring down.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

runningman

you must be talking about the anti-theft security screws??

Some places call them security screws, other places call them tri-groove head. The tool I believe is called a spanner driver - tri groove socket
$ 9.67 for the socket at McMaster-Carr in New Brunswick, NJ;  www.mcmaster.com  good luck Rene.

This company has them fairly cheap as well

I used to sell the screws & socket as a set....

Hey are those factory? All of my chargers have just had the phillips screws holding the ring and cap down also. If they were factory how did they determine which car recieved them just the ones with locking gas caps for all years or what?

So it doesn't make a difference if it had a locking cap or not it just depends on which ones were closest or available that day is that right. I learned something else I didn't know that is a good day.

The picture of my wife's 68 ''the old picture' is original, and her car has the locking gas cap on her tag.
The locking gas cap seems to come on cars here and there, but not very common, the theft proof screws
were more common than the gas lock, at least in 68, from what I have seen in the last 28yrs  :icon_smile_cool:

Bastard Frank stole my auction!  I was selling those as well but at only $15 for a set of 4 and the socket.   He doesnt mention anything about the socket being included though :scratchchin:

smasherofall

anybody sell individual screws?  I have the tool allready but lost one screw.

Shakey

I just used Robertson screws to hold mine in place.  Not a common screw among the automotive crowd plus my car (once it gets on the road) will not likely be alone long enough for anyone to steal it.

Ghoste

Have you tried any of the places that specialize in fasteners?
