3rd gen guys: What is this?

I saw this car on the edge of a field on my way to my favorite junkyard  a few weeks ago. I don't know a whole lot about 3rd gen Chargers, and this is the best pic I could get, it's about a half a mile from the road. There was nobody home when I went to the house, and I wasn't about to walk out to the field and look at the car when nobody was home. Can any of you guys tell what year this one is by this pic? Or if there is anything special about it? Sorry I put this in the wrong forum, I was going to put it in the general q&a, not off-topic.

Looks like a '72.  Can't tell much more than that about.

Yup! Looks like a 72!

 Not a rallye version. As those would have door indentations and bulged hood.  Assuming the car has its original parts. {not likely someone would swap those out for the base model pieces}

If it's got the same type marker lights in the rear as the front, it's a '72. If not, it's a '71 with at least one '72 front fender.

I think it is a 72 topper charger.

Looks like he parked it there on a rainy day (wiper in the up position).
Looks pretty clean too, from here. :thumbs:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Looks like my car except for hideaways. 72 for sure.

Thanks for the info, guys, I will try to find the owner at home someday and see if he wants to get rid of it. I'll keep you posted on what I find. Minnesota being what it is, I am not holding my breath hoping to find a solid car.

where in minnesota are you located?

  Are you guys sure it's a `72?   It could be a 71 SE couldn't it?  From the picture that I see it looks blurry enough to not be sure of the side marker lights and did a standard 72 come with hideaway headlamps....of course the owner could have installed the grille!

   I don't know....I guess i'm not convinced it's a `72.

I live near the town of Sanborn, the southwestern part of the state. It's midway between Redwood Falls and Windom along US highway 71.

Sidemarkers are easily noticeable plastic ones over the body, not recesed ones with bezel
