A Charger commercial

I do not remember exactly what Trevor Creed stated when he said something akin to the new charger will not be associated with the chargers of old due to its ability to stand on its own feet (or sumpin like that, in the ballpark anyways).

well, i just seen a commercial that showed an 06 in an auction environment similiar to the barret-jackson auction where guys where highlighting the cars features and you hear "charger" and "hemi" in the background.  obviously this is to reference it to the older chargers who are getting the high dollars at auctions.

So where did that initial claim by Trevor Creed seem to go since these commercials are out?  I mean, they are riding on the older chargers credibility and worth obviously, since the new "thing" has nothing to tie it to lineage at all.  There is no pedigree to it, yet DC is trying dreadfully hard to provide one.

Not a "06" flame, but really a Trevor Creed and DC flame here.

I'm sure ole Trev meant what he said when they told him to say it but after the car didn't explode out of the sales gate, they decided to use any trick they can to sell it and the retro trick worked once with the Hemi bit, so...

Speaking of the Hemi bit, an acquaintance at work, who reads the Wall Street Journal from cover to cover, told me about an article he read about Chrysler and the new Hemi. He indicated that Chrysler makes approximately $5000 of profit on each Hemi they sell. Has anybody heard anything to this effect?

I hadn't but it wouldn't surprise me.  It's only available in higher end models and I'm sure there is a lot of other equipment you have to order to get it.

Alot of guys still don't get it... The wrapper may say Hemi but it isn't really one.lol

I'll post it when I get home unless someone beats me to it. But yea, it's quite obvious to anyone who isn't in complete denial that Trevor Crud is a two-faced, lying sack of steaming refuse. Furthermore, 10 different kids with crayons could design better-looking cars than him.

TheGhost

Meh.  For a new car, the Charger is pretty decent looking.  Compared to most every new car made, the damn thing is a beauty queen.

Could have, but isn't, and no amount of crying, complaining, or bitching will change that fact.

No, I would have to be honest and say there was some attack there.  Albeit, much less vehement than a few months ago.  I'm tired of fighting and to a certain extent, I agree with Ghost.  However, I would add to his statement that no amount of bitching will change it but poor sales might.  Assuming it does poorly and I have no intention of making that prediction.
At the end of the day, I don't like the styling of the car and some people do and it's all absolutely okay.

As was I.  My comment wasn't directed at him, more at some other members....

Regardless of wether you like it or not, I STILL haven't seen many of them on the street and I don't think it'll break any sales records this week, year, century. In fact, I don't even think it has come close to expected or projected sales...

The other day my daughter and I were driving along and she points and says "Look dad, the new Charger". I look over and sure enough in the lane next to us about 2 car lengths ahead is the new Charger. But then we got along side it and finally passed it and discovered, NOPE, it's a Galant...and THAT is exactly why the car isn't selling. Stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it Trev...moron. :rotz:

We just had an R/T pull through the drive-through at KFC today.  Still haven't been down to the dealer to see if the SXT is still there or not.  Too busy working.

Isn't it funny how the Mustang fans complained about the Probe replacing the Mustang and they were heard and yet we Charger fans start "crying, complaining, or bitching" and we're ignored? Perhaps you're focusing on the wrong group of people here, Ghost. Maybe the real Charger fan is not the problem. Maybe it's a bunch of cocky. obstinant foreigners who know nothing of the concept of American nostalgia whom you should focus your effort on and try changing their minds instead of the minds of those who've grown up with a love for this car and want something better than a Chagnum. Or you could continue settling for the mediocrity we've been handed and go around shrugging your shoulders and saying, "shut up you guys, we get what we get."

By the way, in all honesty, I have yet to see an '06 "Charger" on the road. Even during a trip to California a month ago there were none to be seen.

I saw a SXT at the burrito truck the other day.  It was silver, and some redneck kept looking twice as it was pulling out.  Other than that it looked like any other car.

Ghoste

There are about two on the road around here now.  The dealerships aren't even hawking them very hard anymore.  They were up front for a while but now are buried in the lineup.
Interestingly, or maybe not, DCX advertising has taken a new twist here.  In Ontario, Canada beer is sold through a nice little monopoly setup formerly known as the Brewer's Retail and now renamed the Beer Store.  Anyway, the carts they supply for you to bring in your empties have a slot in their for advertisers to hawk their wares.  Sure enough, the current ad is a Charger Unleashed one.
