I recently purchased a 1964 413 block from a friend.  The block needs to be media blasted and rebored, probably to no more than 30 thousandths over.  I want to build between 400 and 500 streetable hp out of it, but i want the block to survive.  It has been sonic checked and was found to be solid.  I'd like to use the stock heads, but have them ported and polished if at all possible.  Any ideas/ suggestions?

Buy a 440 block and transfer all the 413 parts to it.  You will be buying new pistons anyway, and replacement off the shelf pistons for a 413 bore or oversize bore are rare.  May as well spring for a set of "452", "346", or similar factory heads also as they have bigger exhaust valves.

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

you can easily have the larger valves cut into the older closed chamber heads + with larger valves the seasts will be back to stock height not sunken , I personally prefer the closed chamber heads
