OK I have to ask 41Husk what is mopad? is it a business or just a personal space to crash and play. I think it would probably be easier to get together at the track or have a meeting place to stop and rest.

But am open to suggestions. We will have a canopy set up in the show car field.

The mopad is a building I bought in Madison IL, it is about 5 miles from the track.  There I fixed an area up with a bar my computer, pool table fridge,  Mopar pics and posters, a big screen tv.  Just a man cave!!!  If your into mopars it is a pretty cool place to see if I have to say so myself, oh yeah there is a sofa sleeper if some one needs to crash or has a bit to much cold drink from the fridge.

I'll be there on Saturday & Sunday.  Not sure if I'll bring just the R/T or the 2-ton truck & R/T together - depends on if I have time enough to get both of them cleaned up.

I'll be spending a bunch of time trying to help out with the Aero Cars display, and generally trying to keep those guys happy.  Hope to get around and see some of you guys though!

I've been trying like hell to have my 68 ready for the show this year.  I was almost on pace to be done, but I just found out one of my friends is getting married that weekend, so I'll have to be a no-show.    :flame:  The Mopad sounds cool, I'll have to check it out next year.  You'll all have to take some good pics for me... :P

Thanks for posting that Geno, I brought it back to the top with an invite to all.  It looks much better now :yesnod:

i had lots of fun i found a set of spool type bb motor mount ,a big block 727 trans ,i cooked at the drag strip and found the one shaddy spot under the tower in the bleachers, the days inn was nice not to many mopars not as many as the holliyday inn where i was  driving friday night and saw a drunk guy on the side of the building with his paints down,(hope it wasnt one us)but it looked liike it was getting crazy over there.

471_Magnum

I elected not to drive the Charger and enter it. I got a late start Saturday morning, and I had to drop off my two year-old at my folks place on the other side of St. Louis. I just decided to take the more reliable and economical daily driver knowing I wouldn't make it to the track until late.

I spent a few hours at the track Saturday, but really didn't get a chance to hunt anyone down and visit. Whipped through the show field and swap meet. (Saw a real nice Red/Red Interior '69 Stripe delete Trak Pak R/T. Sweet.) Watched some racing, then headed back to the folk's place.

Ironically my "reliable" car broke down on the way home today. About 50 miles out of St. Louis, I noticed the "check engine" light illuminated.   ??? Then my transmission gear indicator light started flashing. Then the ABS light came on. Then the airbag light came on. Then the cd player started shutting off. Then the cruise control quit. Noticed the torque converter wasn't locked-up.  :P

Pressed on to Mt. Vernon, IL, knowing that beyond was virtual no-man's land, but I would be within my AAA free 100 mile tow radius. Got off the highway and the transmission refused to down-shift out of OD. Figured I could limp into Autozone for an electrical system check hoping the six year old battery was the only problem. Car would have none of that though. I limped off the road and the car was completely dead electrically.

1800 AAA HELP

Got towed 89 miles to the house.

So much for choosing my reliable daily driver over the good old Dodge.  :brickwall: Looks like it's time for a new alternator.

Should have drove the Charger.

That red 69 was 694spdRT's. He did win a trophy as well. I think Allen and I saw you heading around the corner at the swap on Saturday but we were headed for the nonexistent group meet at the time. :P I was expecting to see your car but never did find it. Now I know why. I also lost an alternator on the way home which reallt sucked.

Mike,

Yeah, I did snag a trophy - but if you heard them talking about my C-500, they were probably referring to the 2-ton truck not the Charger.  Oddly enough, the truck's official model designation really is C-500, but my orange Charger is "only" an R/T (that sounds odd, doesn't it?).  The guy that took 2nd in my Charger's class is Jerry Narramore, and he has a bronze Hemi Charger 500 that is a really neat car - maybe that's what you heard??

There were several guys from the board that took home trophies, and Ty (694spdRT) took first in his class (again!)   :2thumbs:  Congrats on your own piece of hardware there too, Mike!

Geno

P.S.  It was nice "officially" meeting you, and I hope your daughter was able to find that elusive Charger she was looking for...

Yes, I made it home just fine - although it was a wee bit later than planned. The guys at AutoZone were incredibly helpful. Two stayed late at the first store trying to figure out how to let me buy a part that didn't exist in their system, one of them followed me to the store that actually had the part "just in case", one of the employees at that store stayed well past closing time and was waiting on the front step with the alternator in hand, and another stayed even later holding a flashlight for me in the parking lot while I got it all installed. Other than the moron in a pickup who made me miss my exit because he thought he was racing me while I was trying to get over in the right lane, I managed to get through the rest of the trip without incident. He's probably telling all his friends about that Hemicuda he wasted because they'll never know it was an overheating 318 with a dead battery and an alternator working overtime.

As usual, I got to meet a lot of new people at this show and that's what makes it fun to get out to all these events. I'd try to post a list of names but I forgot to write them all down. Whoops! I met a few people who check out the site but aren't members so that's kinda cool too. The best (or worst) part of it all was that now I have a million things that I want to add to the site based on conversations with everyone. I guess I have all winter for that...

Ok I knew I heard something about your 500 announced and I was confused because I also knew your charger was just a meager R/T (ha ha). We could all be lucky enough to have such a car. Jerry's car is very nice it deserves a trophy much more than mine does. I am proud to know him also. Kelly did find the 5th Generation Charger she was looking for. It was great to talk to you and everyone else. 694spRT I at least got to see you if if it was just a wave and a see you next time.

I am working on the TDC meet for next year hope to have some info on it soon.
