So I found this car out in the weeds behind the field thats behind the barn. Made what I thought was a good deal on the car, a couple of engine/trans combos and some extra parts. Money is exchanged for a title and a bill of sale and as agreed I go back on sunday w/ trailer to collect my loot and while I'm there this fellas wife reminds him several times to make sure that I take all of it. The more she reminds, the more I am thinking wtf? Guy finally tells her not to worry becouse he filled it up.
I start to express my concern and he explains that he has some other extra charger parts that aren't worth anything and he was throwing them in.
So I get this thing home to my shop and it is literally chock full of stuff. I can't even begin to list it all, there is so much. When I started stripping the front suspension off every time (I removed something the front would raise up off the jack stands. I finally had to start emptying out the trunk.
The more I dig, The more I find!

So anyway this car is very rough (see pics) and now I gotta do something with it. The passenger side is banged up from an accident and it needs both quarter panels, a passenger side door (came with the deal) floor pan work (most all are shot), the windshield has some significant scratches from where somebody didn't replace they're wiper blades, the drivers side lower quarter cashed in when I hit the upper ball joints with my air gun (scared the shat out of me), rust and leaves are coming out of places I never knew they could get. The wiring looks to be the usual 40 year old mopar nightmare.

On the plus side is the sub frames appear to be sound and the uni-body strings and plumbs decent. So I'm going to save it.

The Question is what should I do with it ( vin is XP29F, I think that means it's a 318 car bust it does have a console shift steering column and console shifter, automatic trans). I don't think a high dollar concours restoration is in the cards for this one but I think it's worth saving. So what do you think?
Pro street? 68 Hemi Daytona clone ( I do love the round taillights)? Nascar Clone? High gear hauler for the Texas Interstate races (is that still going on?) or maybe even a hemi daytona convertable lookalike?

                                            Decisions, decisions, decisions!
Since I am soliciting sugestions I wil entertain all except those of box it up and ship it to me! I have been lurking here long enough to know that one of you clowns :icon_smile_big: will suggest that. When I get a handle on what all is here I will share the wealth of what I don't need (for a reasonable fee), I'm sure there is somthing you folks might want ( like the list 4440 holley carb I found under the V8 K memeber that was under the suspension parts that was under two 68 grills!)

Maybe I should have a BBQ/parts inventory/parts identafication/bs party? Brickyard 400 is this weekend, anyone coming to Indy? I live about a 15 min walk from the track.

Sometimes this car stuff is a bunch of damn fun!

http://img77.imageshack.us/img77/7189/p7280062mu0.jpg     These would be the HP exhaust manifolds wouldn't they?

http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/6549/p7250021kn2.jpg    Anyone seen this cutout on a 68 instrument cluster before? I have owned several 69's in the past and I've never seen it. Looks like a handy place to run a tach wire! There is a nifty little cover for it, couldn't find it right away. It's in them parts somewhere.

I'm going to get some pics of this 383 block this weekend so I/we (the board in general) can determine if it is a HP like the man claimed. Personally I don't care, this thing is getting a hemi but I'd like to know for sure. Someone may want it or need it and I don't want to bs anyone about parts.

I'll have more questions I'm sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

terrible one

Wow, already getting on it! I think you got a good deal!

Yeah, there is a delete plate that goes over there hole in the cluster if the car didn't come with defrost. I was just thinking that it would be a real nice place to run a tach wire (put the delete plate on, and drill a hole through that). It would end up looking pretty clean.

NICE FIND!! I live on the east side of Indy and am currently trying to finish up my 68. Need any help or advice we could hook up. Lots of good mopar people around town.
