Removing Spark Plugs

Hey Guys, In a 68 R/T 440, do you have to take the exhaust manifolds off to change out spark plugs or just have the right kind of tools to get to those hard to reach plugs?

You just need the right combination of extensions, swivels and swear words.  They'll come, keep trying.

In that case, at this point  :icon_smile_dissapprove:all I need is the right combination of extensions swivels!

I typically use a plug socket with a short (3 inch) extension and a ratchet with a pivoting head.  By swivel I mean one of those universal joint extensions.  If you are just using a standard socket set you should still be able to come up with a combination that gains access.

Spark plug removal on the 440's nothing.  Try doing it on an LT-1 or LS-1 and you'll soon know real pain...

on the hard ones to get at,i use a plug socket with a hex head.
i then use a shorty wrench on the hex head of the socket.
have not found a plug i could not get to with this combo.

  yep      also  number 1 & 2 plug  are  the only ones i do from the top  !  all the rest from the bottom  much easier , well for me any way
