Can this be done, or will the pressures be too much on the seals, I don't drive it much, I'm mainly concerned about the front seal, the problem is the gear selector on the VB is worn out, it doesn't click in each position like it should, i have my cheetah VB from my race car, i bought a hurst shifter that i was going to install also, just wondering if it would be better just to fix the stock VB or install the cheetah, is that selector hard to change?

Ghoste

The selector isn't hard to change provided that's all it is, but the valve body would have to come out.
There are people running the manual ones on the street but I don't think that they have had issues with seals.

There is no actual pressure on the front (converter) seal.

Could you clarify "it doesn't click in each position like it should", if the shift shaft is loose there's no reason to change the whole valve body.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

What i think (could be wrong) is the teeth on the selector are worn out, maybe rounded off, i know theres a check ball thats spring loaded, does this make sence lol, with the linkage disconnected from the tranny, the selector moves too easy from park to low, you can barely (and i mean barely) feel each gear, when the linkage was hooked up, you couldn't feel any clicking from PRNDL, it just felt sloppy up & down, no resistance through each gear (column shift) but all of the linkage is in really good shape, its all tight.

Well, i found the problem, that check ball for the selector fell out, it was rolling around in the pan, hopefully it didn't break that little channel it rides in, i'll pull it today & see, if its ok, i'm just going to put the arm off the cheatah VB on.
