All right. Who was driving the "General Lee" Friday on I-69 in Indianapolis?

I am jealous.  lol.  One day...maybe someone will see my blue Charger driving down the highway.  lol  I only dare to keep her close to home for now...until the gauges get working.

But yep...if you come here...eye catching.  I was on the other side of the highway and saw you coming.  :)

LMAO!  Yeah.  Actually I know there is someone in Indy that owns one.  I cannot remember his name off my head, but I ran into a guy, who works at a bar downtown Indy, that is friends with him.  Just have a horrible memory of names.

People at my work want me to drive mine up there so they can see.  But lately cars have been stolen off the lot...and I just do not think mine is highway ready.

That was Travis Bell on his way to the Warped tour at the Verizon Wireless center on exit 10. He is a DJ that works in many of the Indy clubs and bars.

JimShine

He has a few General Lee's. The one that he drives out and about is the one that he did the Cannonball Run with a couple years ago. The sponsor and star stickers are gone now.

Ghoste

Oh okay.  I was wondering if he was driving around one of the original cars from the series.

JimShine

I can ask him. I don't think he drives the real ones around other than for events.

That is his name...and if he was going to the Warp Tour...he was going the wrong way to Noblesville.  lol  He was driving South on 69 and was close to the Castleton exit.

It could have been after he left. When I read the post I was actually on the phone with him and asked him and posted what he said. He mentioned he was just going to set up some equipment and left.

Do you sometimes feel like this Charger community exists in a lot smaller bubble than it actually does?

Blusmbl

I would totally rock a General Lee as a daily driver.  The man has good form.  :icon_smile_cool:

:icon_smile_big: I have a GL daily driver as well. I guess I am amongst those with taste.  ;)

Blusmbl

It depends, how hardcore are you?  Doors welded shut?  Do you use the dixie horn at least once every morning on your commute? :D

Doors are just like the real ones, unwelded  :icon_smile_big: . But I do hit the horn a little too often.

Blusmbl

Alright, overzealous use of the horn makes up for not entering through the window at every opportunity.

Of course, this is all coming from a guy with a flame painted, sawzall'd Caddy convertible...

Shoot, my General Lee is in the shop a couple hours south of Indianapolis.  Maybe the mechanic was taking it for a joy ride!  I'll be driving through Indy on Monday the 7th in mine.  And, yes, I'll use the windows the whole way.  My doors only open by remote, and I only did that to keep it legal.

There's a GL sitting in a used car lot in downtown Fortville, right on 67, maybe they were test-driving it :scratchchin:

So when am I going to see yours driving down the highway...minus being a GL and all?  Work going okay on it?  Even with these hot days?

You know what else I saw...my first Charger in a field.  I actually think I may know the owner of it, but driving around the country a few nights ago I came across a 68 or 69 parked in front of a farmhouse...with tarps on it.  I think I gave the occupents of my car whiplash when I seen it.  lol  I am debating on going back out there to see if the owner is who I think it is...and what might be going on with it.

Anyways I was wishing I had my 9 year old brother with me Friday when I seen the General rolling down the highway.  The kid is a huge Dukes fan (the original show, not the movie) and loves the General Lee.  He has never seen one up close...he would have thought that was pretty cool.  He gets a kick out of riding in my Charger.

Well where was I the other day when you posted this. I would have told you it was Travis Bell. He lives about 2 miles away from me. In a 5 mile radius I know of 5 69 Chargers.

Seems we all seem to congregate down here in this corner of town.

If you see a Red 69 500 driving around I-465 it would be me. So make sure to wave.

;)  I will do this.  I live North of Indianapolis...and so far other than the one I saw in the field...I am the only Charger I know around my area.

I've been working hard and heavy trying to get done in time for the Nationals but it's not gonna happen   :'(  . I didn't realize my grill was in worse condition than I thought it was. On the outside it looks fine, but a lot of the mounting tabs are broke, plus it will need a repaint too. Waveraider thinks I'm being too anal about it, but I want it done right the first time. I figure maybe 2 months to be on the road   ::)

I wish I knew that. I was there just last week. I could have made it a point to meet you as well and check out your car.
