Did carpets originally have plastic grommet/ring around dimmer switch?

Did Mopar original carpets come with a plastic ring/grommet that went around the dimmer switch in the floor?  I have heard that the ring/grommet was a GM thing only and Mopars just had a cut in the carpeting to allow the dimmer switch button part to go through.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Originals are rubber, not plastic... aftermarket ones included with new repro carpets are plastic

Brian, I don't think the 69's ( I assume we're talking about your car) had the grommet. Let's see what others say.

Hmm, interesting... My 68 had no sign of a grommet anywhere, and the carpet was definitely original.  I found a plastic grommet included with my new ACC carpet but I wasn't sure if it was supposed to be for the hi-beam switch or something else...  I checked around the hi-beam switch hole to see if maybe a grommet had been removed at somepoint, but it doesn't look like there was ever one there.  Unless someone else knows for sure that it's supposed to be there, I'll probably leave mine off.  Unless of course I completely butcher the hole when I cut it out...

I have talked to several big high dollar car owners/restorers on this very subject, because my 68 did not come
with one from the factory either. I have been told that the factory only used them on the carpets that were
not cut well to cover up there mistakes. I am talking about car years up to 70, after that I don't know.

I have a black and white 8 1/2" X 11" factory picture of a 69 Charger interior. It clearly shows the dimmer switch with no grommet

I've had 2 68's both with original carpet and both with dimmer switch grommets.
