Are 440 oil pans different sizes between C and B bodies?

My 69 New Yorker 440 donor engine's oil pan is hitting the centerlink of my suspension in my 68 Charger.  I can almost slide a piece of paper between the two.  Ron (Firefighter) said that the centerlinks are all the same for 318 and 440 Chargers, but that the oil pan might be different..  Anyone?

You're welcome Paul. Just a suggestion ; don't trash the 187 pan and pickup....they are valuable to guys that are dropping BB motors into a-bodies. You can probably sell it for some $ to someone looking to do that conversion.

Paul I had a 187 on a 440 in my charger when purchased. it was touching the pan.... it worked but I did not like how tight is was

The 402 pan, was the HP pan that was baffled as well.

The engine in my car now, I took out of a 70 Fury 440 car 27yrs ago. That pan fit fine in my charger. Infact one
time I lost oil pressure, took the pan out of the car without lifting the engine, because there were no baffles in
the no HP pan.

I believe it was out of a '77 Newport.  It had the knotched "187" pan and clearance really wasnt an issue.

I found 1 old pic of when I first got the car.....ran it that way for 5+ years with no problems.

I have a 383  Non-HP   and it has a 402 pan on it.....I'm pretty sure it's original because the car was never touched  engine wise   when I bought it.   Is that strange?   Or   is that normal?

The general rule is, you got the 402 baffled pan on HP engines 383 440, I have not seen a 402 pan
on a 68 or 69 'non' HP engine yet.

well...that's why i was asking....it has a "402"  stamped very clearly on the oil pan itself..Maybe the manufacturer ran out of the other kind during assembly???   And...it is a baffled pan by the way

Here are a couple of options. I prefer the reproduction hemi pan for the added capacity and baffleing....well worth the extra few $

Ps. If you order the hemi pan from Mancini, make sure to specify the 3/8in pickup....unless your block has been modified for the 1/2in PU.

I think it coould be some difference clearence with manual steering box and powered steering box because the length of pitman and iddle arms and also size of center link ?
