Sarah McLachlan is my current favorite female voice to listen to.

Pat Benatar, Joan Jett & Donna Summer were my favorites when I was a teenager. I tried listening to a Donna Summer record recently...don't know if I can do that again. Pat Benatar & Joan Jett will always be cool. :icon_smile_cool:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Greta Salpeter from The Hush Sound.  She has a very pretty voice, if you don't need to head bang every minute and enjoy slower music then you might enjoy their mellower tone.

Sheryl Crow is good as well.

gwen stefanni-pre pop days

when was she not pop? No Doubt is about as mainstream pop as they get. Unless you're referring to her "solo" work, which is shamelessly pop. I have to admit even some of that stuff is very good, but she's not remarkable as a singer at all.

Anyway..I dig Shirley Manson from Garbage and that chick that sings for the Distillers.

Not to knock anyone, but the Janis Joplins, Stevie Nicks, and Grace Slicks are the typically predictable choices of middle aged guys...

I guess I'm middle aged, but they aren't my choices.  :rotz:  Joplin never did anything for me, but she did a few non-radio blues tunes I liked. Nicks & Slick were "okay" but neither of them are in my record & CD collection.

A couple of other female singers that I have actually bought CD's of, are Fiona Apple & Joan Osborne.

I think Apple has an awesome voice.
