Cam Shaft

This is the cam I instaled in my 400 4v motor.
Make: Lunati
Lift at valve: in .480  ex.480
Duration: in 230 deg
             ex 230
What should I expect out of this cam in a stock engine? Rpm's? Is this a low end or high end cam?
It idles at around 900.

Bob, is the motor completely stock ? What year is the motor ? Most 400's will be of the low compression variety so with a longer duration cam, the powerband will move up a bit and the engine will feel a little soft off idle. With a low compression 400 and that grind it won't really start to come on hard until 3000-3200 rpm.

Thats the cam I have in my 440. The specs on the motor are:

Bored .040 over
Forged crank
stock 915 heads
flat top Muskegon Pistons #1276
Compression I guesstimate at about 10.5:1, not sure though.
Torker II single plane intake
Speed Demon 850 carb, mech. sec. straight out of the box.

The cam has a 109* seperation
The cam comes with the recomendation for a 3000 stall converter. It idles nice in my 440 at 850 rpm's. The power comes in right around 3000 rpm's like Ron says.

Yes, it is a completely stock motor. It's the original 400 in my 74. It just clocked 80,000 miles. I could tell the difference in the power curve the first time I drove it. When I ordered the cam and lifter kit I told them I wanted a stock cam. Stupid me, after I installed it I finally read the specs and came to realize it's not stock. Sounds great though.
