I find it inetersting it is a Hemi 4 speed and 8 3/4 rear end set up to race. I thought they used dana rearend with hemi 4 speed combo. I guess the  8 3/4 is strong enough.

I don't think the NASCAR guys ran the Dana.  Remember, this is a replica.

grand national ( nascar ) mopars  ran  8 3/4 's  because  it was easier ( quicker) to change the gear ratio  , plus the extra strength of a DANA was not needed as there was no 6000 rev drop the clutch launches with wide sticky slicks .

What is this hole for that was welded onto the body?

"This was the dedication of the altar, in the day when it was anointed, by the princes of Israel: twelve chargers of silver, twelve silver bowls, twelve spoons of gold..." -- Numbers 7:84 KJV

If you mean the one at the back Jon, it's a fuel tank vent.  When the tank is filled to capacity, you'll see fuel sloshing out of there.   Helps them to know it's topped up. :icon_smile_big:

Now the one thing I don't get with this car is that he mounted the fuel fill up on the C pillar and as far as I know, all of the NASCAR fastbacks had the fuel filler in the stock location.  On the 1/4 panel but without a fuel filler door of course.

Lightning

hmm.....I actually thought putting the filler on the C-pillar was a good idea...and I didn't know about the Dana not being used on the race cars....Learn something new every day.

Except that when you heave up the big gas can in the pits the fuel outlet on the can is on the bottom for gravity feed and it winds up around crotch level when the can is full.  Having it higher would work good if your fuel guy was knocking on 7 foot tall.

The bathtub intake gives me wood, I'd love of those for my Coronet   :yesnod:

Ghoste

Here you go.  It doesn't show the fuel sloshing out the back but you get the idea of keeping the filler at an easily accessed height.

BigBlockSam

great daytona pic. i don't like the tail lights on the 66, plus that gas cap looks terrible. just my 2 cents. Rene
