69 OUR/TEA

Hi all,
Papas Dodge of New Britian,CT put on their first cruise night on Weds at their new building,(this facility is unbelievable),with all of it's nostalgic setups inside.Being that I have been finishing the paint on my 69 B5 R/T Charger,I have not taken out  my 23 k original mile 68 Coronet 440 this year, and thought it would be great to attend as this is the dealer that my car is originally from .My coronet was bought here in Nov 67 by a man that was 72 years old,(who buys a new car at this age?,check out the pic of title, date of birth.).As I have written before, about this car,in 1970 his daughter took the keys away from him when it had only 13K miles and  kept in her garage until 1994.She did the usual warmup drives around the block to keep it going, but still managed to keep the miles down,13,322 ,and in 94 when it went thru probate was sold to a guy in my town who did not do a thing to it,(except remove the original tires and rims, which I still have with the 13K miles on them),and just drove it up until 98 when I was sent to go look at this Charger,it was'nt a Charger ,but I bought it anyway, with 22K miles. This was a survivor car that should have been in the tent at carlisle, but I chose to strip ,repaint, rechrome and do a detailing of the drivetrain and engine bay.The car currently has 23K miles on it.
There were two other cars there that night that originally came from this dealer,a 70 Charger 500,and my friends 69 R/T SE B7 Charger. He did not know about this site, but is going to check it out and join up soon.Another friend brought his 71 cuda that I did all the sheetmetal body and paint on back in 97,that my wife  likes  more than Chargers,OUCH !!!! So in 2002 I bought a 70 AAR Cuda , EV2.She still likes the 71 better,DOUBLE OUCH !!!! Also in the pics a Black 72 sunroof RR ,70 shaker challenger six pack, unrestored 68 Hemi GTX,Kenny Papas Black T/A Challenger, and the Blues Brothers who were just at Carlisle.
Anyone from CT should make a trip and see this dealership,it is worth the ride, the inside is awesome!!! Unbelievable inventory of vehicles, the biggest I've ever seen.Enjoy the pics.......

tan top , He added the recall wheels,as I wrote he will be joinig this siteI will connect you two. Chris G , I know what you mean, when I bought this car,I was under the impression that a survivor had to be near mint,it had some chips and scratches,a couple of door dings, and someone made the paint real thin from trying to buff it out,and the bumpers were faded in a couple spots also. The drivetrain is not rebuilt,so along with the body still retains 23k miles.I also am still in contact with the original owners daughter(she goes to cruises and loves seeing this car.)

Great pics, Paul. Waaay back in the early eighties we used to make the trip down to the polo grounds in Farmington, CT to a annual car show that Ken Papas put on. It was one of my favorite show and swaps. It was kind of funny in that it was a MOPAR / Corvette show and swap. I bought a 73 340 4 speed rallye Charger off of Papas one year. Of all the cars that I regret selling that was #1.

Awesome!  I've been in CT all my life, but never knew of this dealer!  I will have to check this place out someday, although DCX doesn't make anything I'd want nowadays..... ::)  Unless of course, the challenger comes out....
