Looking for a little help

I am thinking about paying a restored 67 Charger non numbers matching car.   It was origanally a 318 auto on the column.   Now totally restored to a 440 auto on the floor with console.   This was a ground up restoration.   A few things still need to be done like headlight motors, weatherstripping, window regulators and interior lights.   Everything else is completed.   Red with white interior.   It has has new interior but wrong seat covers.   The guy is asking $15,000.

IS this a good deal??

Thanks ???

depends.. sounds a little high for a 1st gen..still needing some work anyway. not that he doesn't have 15k in it.. BUT

I think headlight motors and interior lighting in those cars are a pain in the ass.  maybe offer him $15k after he finishes fixing those things.

Looks pretty clean. I'd definitely be interested in it for $15k as long as the restoration was recent, meaning the body/undercarriage are SOLID and the paint is ready for show. If the chrome and aluminum are all there and in excellent condition, then that right there is worth several thousand. The taillight assembly on these cars are very high-priced items...make sure this one works and doesn't need replaced. The headlight motors are a common issue and there are people out there that can rebuild them, weatherstripping is available, and the other topics you mentioned don't sound all that bad either. The market has always favored second gen chargers and that won't change, but the prices on first gens has gone up alot within the past couple of years. If you're getting a first gen for your enjoyment and aren't looking to make a profit on it, I say let the negotiating begin! Offer 13 and see what he says. Good luck.

I agree.  The headlight motors are not so bad once you get into them and learn how they work.  There are a bunch of guys on the 66-67 site who can help easily with that.  Interior lighting is not a problem at all.  Instrument lighting is another thing altogether.  Is the dash lighting or the courtesy lights you are talking about as not working?
It sounds like a lot of the hard stuff is done.  I would sooner fix lighting than try to find good emblems or "C" chromes.
