I have to sell my '68 AMX, but it's worth it to pick up a '69 Charger. I pick it up tomorrow, so I have a couple of questions today:

1. What makes a Charger a SE?
2. I don't have the fender tag. Is there a way to track down that info elsewhere?
3. Are there repop or refurbed stock looking radios available anywhere?

Thanks in advance. I'll try to attach a pic. :icon_smile_big: :icon_smile_big:

Nice car.  Know what it is like to finally get something you have wanted for a long time.    :yesnod:

I like the Hard top :2thumbs:

A47 on the tag that you do not have.

Build sheet which may be under or around a seat back, or bottom.

Mostly was a dress up featrue and not a Performance package (the SE that is)

blackcharger

check om moparts for the radios. There is an out fit that sells redone factory radios.
Nice score on the Charger.

THE CHARGER PUNK

what makes an se charger n se is the option code as stated above(A47)it came with woodgrain dash, leather front buckets, light group, don know much more about them xcept that that se chargers are usually the same price as abse cars-MATT(was this the one i saw on ebay by any chance?)

Thanks for the help. Can I somehow track down all the codes that are on my missing fender tag?

Well usually at the stage that car is at you really need a build sheet which is why I stated that.  Otherwise really not a way to pick them all out.

Yep, a build sheet is the only way you're going to know for sure. if you get that, you can have a fender tag made.

Another possibility is to apply to the Chrysler archives (I think that's what it's called) and get the computer order card.
Can someone help with a link?
Someone on this site knows how to read them, too.

I'm not sure if it gives EVERY thing that a build sheet does though.

Another place to check for the build sheet is on top of the glove box or even in the headliner.

If you find one, double check that it's yours - they didn't always make it into the car and often other sheets made it into the car.
I have one from an R/T that isn't mine, but mine was in there as well...

Radios - AM or AM/FM?
AM radios come up on eBay fairly regularly.
AM/FM not as much and when they do, they go for a real pretty penny!

If you're not too bent on number correctness, might I suggest getting an AM radio and sending it in to be converted to modern guts? That'd give you AM/FM and even CD control but look bone stock in the dash. I thought about going this route but then I snagged an AM/FM radio with all the right numbers, so I'm putting that in.

Oh, and nice car by the way!

Thanks for the help, everybody. :2thumbs:    One of the first things I do when I get home is look behind the back seat.

I don't believe any car post '67 can get any documentation from Chrysler. Something about a fire or something?

Cool car RDR. Good luck with it. I dig the flames.  :yesnod:

RDR-838

Just off the top of my head, I can't remember what the wheels are. :-[ I'll let you know tomorrow.

WHOA!   i thought that car was long gone by now!     I am not even joking - I went and looked at that car about 5 years ago - up in Santa Barbara CA....           it was a 383 auto car - black interior (buckets) --       black with metallic blue flames...

Could be the same one. Why did you pass on it?

sunfire69

If I remember right this guy had a web site where he kept a record of the restore on this car. Didn't it used to be red ?

Jerry

RDR-838

There is some red paint coming through on the trunk lid hinges.

sunfire69

I can't remember the name and of course can't find the old link. In a nut shell the site showed in detail all the work on the car all the problems he had getting the work done the way he wanted it.....if it's the same car this guy was a stickler. He went to great lengths to get it right.
When it was done with in weeks it got hit, as he fought with the insurance co. he decided to paint it black with the ghost flames. If I've got my cars crossed some one straighten me out.

well - at the time the thing was leaking like a sieve...    tranny has no fluid in it - engine was needing help...       turned a hose on it and water POURED into the trunk....                     I am 100% sure this is the same car...      she wanted $12,000 back then....    the interior has a ton of dog hair in it and it was generally not in great shape....            so i passed....       maybe everything has been fixed - i know the paint and body was BEAUTIFUL but underneath there was alot of work to be done....    the paint is the exact same as are the wheels and tires - so...      i have a picture of me standing next to it - but no scanner - guess u need to take my word for it.

I believe you are thinking of the Patriot Blue car that was used in a Chrysler ad. I could be wrong of course...

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.
