well, I'm finally moving away from home for the first time, and of all places about 10 states due north, to north-west Michigan...but I'll finally have some racing opportunities to go with it......after I find another old mopar that is.  Bad news is: I'm finally selling my LeBaron to the junkyard for the extra cash.  But now y'all can quit busting my balls for not having a Charger,  ;D. (I'll be getting one by x-mas)
when racing deals fall apart.....you go home, like me.

some good and some bad points there. sorry you had to give up on your project

it was a little heart-breaking, but I'll get over it.   I'm actually getting picked up by a drifting/roadracing team, as a driver.  So I might be able to have a Charger soon (within the year), and then.....I'll turn the drifting world on it's ear. :icon_smile_big:

EDIT: anybody know of any Mopar salvage yards up there?

Northwest Michigan as in upper Michigan? Or lower Michigan? Because If it is Upper, you will only be a few driving hours from me.

Well I live in southeast Michigan and I can tell you right now I hope you like cold weather. Sure its warm there now but winter comes fast and on that side of the state it snows every day-I think 80" of snow falls every winter. Old cars in nice shape are hard to find , even ten old ones have rust. On the plus side I think they use more sand than salt , where I live its salt only. Its is very nice there right now and there is lots of wild life around, if you like hunting you love it, fishing also. Hope everything works out great for you.

Where in NW Michigan?  I live in the Traverse City area. Hope you really like the cold!  Not much, as far as salvage yards, around here.  Most have been picked though.  We do have an "outlaw" yard. Always in trouble with the neighbors and the EPA.  Has a lot of stuff there but, you really have to enjoy scrounging around.  The help is non existent.

Sure it's cold, but it's a damp cold.  :icon_smile_big: Sorry, that's funny where I come from.

Best of luck with the racing, though.

Is being a drifting/roadracer a year round job in Michigan?

the team's pretty much gonna do all kinds of stuff: drifting, rallying, road racing, i'll give drag racing a try once I get a older Mopar, maybe the Baja 1000.....

at least with drift events, they dont stop if it rains or snows, they just keep goin.

just like with the hobby, I'll need a regular job for day-to-day stuff, that's why I'm goin up next week to get the regular job sorted out before I move in Sept.

Good luck with everything!  I am originally from Michigan...Byron Center area and I do go up there a lot to visit.  I miss the Island and the Bridge...spent many summers there.  We also have like a hundred acres up the the UP.

We came so close to moving to Copper Harbor once...now that is pretty there!

I know it and I love it.  We almost bought the hotel/post office setup that was there as it was for sale at the time.  BUT my parents choose not too for during the winter time we kids would have had to be bused out to a school that was like two hours or so away.

I thought it would have been fun to live there.

it was great living up there, especially if your a sportsman.the fishing and hunting was great.
