You beat me to it Bob! I was just going to post it too. Pink Floyd one of my favorite bands. There was no chance they were ever going to come together due to their ego's and Barrett became a hermit, nevertheless they did have talent when they were together.  Cool lyrics, cool band!! :yesnod:

I just learned that the band members wrote "wish you were here" years later for Barrett since he separated from the band back in 1968.

I remember the first time i heard Darkside Of The Moon,... WOW!  :o
later it would get played to death of course but that album was a total class act!

Let me know if his condition changes.

Hey as far as I know once you die you don't come back. He was only 60 years old, just goes to show that drugs can be bad for you. Heck OZZY is the only one left that is still rocking and going strong, he is proof drugs don't kill if you watch it. OZZY should write a book one day-"how to use drugs with out killing yourself" . I like Pink Floyd too but it was kind of slow or down, good now and then but not good for fast driving IMOP.

So you're still waithing for Jim Morrison & Elvis to resurface too, right?

Kind of like waiting for the Red Sox to win the World Series.

There's some interesting reading here, especially the part about how hallucinogens don't cause mental illness:

http://www.sane.org.uk/public_html/About_Mental_Illness/Alcohol_Drugs.shtm

My sister takes meds to control mental illness & she didn't do drugs like Syd Barrett & other famous people who croaked. It says certain hallucinogens can heighten the illness, or prompt it, but it's not the cause. I'm not condoning drug use, just saying what has been studied.

Syd died but it didn't state the cause, only that he's been battling diabetes for years. A close friend of mine had her daughter diagnosed with diabetes after she went into a coma for a week when she was 2 years old. She can keep it under control, but it still sucks.

Yeah, Ozzy's still alive...mumbling nonsensically and pissing himself uncontrollably.  I think I'd rather just die.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Yea, but one of those three events actually happened recently.

There were a lot of albums in between the time Syd left the band & when Dark Side of the Moon was recorded. Syd was only on the first 2 albums, "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" & "A Saucerful of Secrets". The rest were David Gilmour.

And he was barely involved in A Saucerful of Secrets. I remember reading that while Floyd was recording the song 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond", Syd was visiting in the control room. head shaved, eyebrows shaved, and inbetween talking about pork chops he was jumping up and down while brushing his teeth.
